I heard the Old Home An' Filler Up and Keep On Trucking Cafe yesterday driving home. I said, "Alexa, play some C.W. McCall." Then that song played.

This would make a perfect song to add to create a killer Halloween mix tape, along w/ "The Legend of Wooley Swamp" by The Charlie Daniels band and "Hurricane" by Leon Everett among others.

Bloopers and Practical Jokes showed several of these ads. They often ran old commercials. The actor who played C.W. looks like someone who played J.D. in some commercials for Louisiana National Bank. I wonder if it could be the same person. My mom met him one time. There was no mention of Chip Davis. Mr. Fries did rather well with the campaign and some hit records. RIP.

I just felt like hearing Convoy again, and I wound up here. What a find! I remember hearing the Old Home fill 'er up song on WWL radio, but I didn't know it involved all this. I put this video in my favorites. Thank you very much for uploading this. Enjoyed it very much.

I finally went to Audubon today, I don't know why but I have been stopping at every single place that I could remember from the CW songs! I drove the Wolf Creek Pass looked for the old feed store in Pagosa Springs, drove from Durango up the canyon next to the Silverton tracks, drove by the entrance to the black bear road and drove back and forth through the tunnel where the Riverside slide flows. Yesterday I drove through Wiggins Colorado Comma I don't know why I'm doing all this but when I was such a little kid these songs were so much fun! Not to be rude but Audubon and Wiggins aren't much but everything else is absolutely fantastic! Oh yes the Nishnabotna river is not much more than a Creek in any other area😂

Once again ol’ CW has made my day. I can’t thank you enough for posting this. Bill’s records were my favorite thing in the late ‘70s-early ‘80s (before I had discovered his Old Home Bread commercials), and coincidentally I ended up spending a 30 year career making commercials myself and did quite a bit of original soundtracks for them along the way. Late in my career I learned Bill’s bio and had to write him a letter. I never heard back, but he passed just a year later at the age of 93. It kills me I never got to connect with the man that was a big inspiration but finding this video was a gift.

I'm glad I read your comment. I had always meant to write old CW a letter also, but never got around to it and wished I had when I heard he had passed away. But at least, by reading your comments, I'm guessing I would've never heard back from him anyway, so now I feel better about it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed. I am pretty confidant that a majority of the advertisments did appear on television in the 70s. As for the behind the scenes song I am unsure if that was aired or not. I found the ads and behind the scenes song here: bozell.com/work/old-home-bread/

I detect a bit o' product placement in that second Kern's ad - big ol' Pepsi dispenser sittin' there, big as ya please...Don't know if the good folks at Pepsi were aware of the free pub Kern's gave 'em, but this comment in in the style of the late Bill Fries, C.W. McCall to you 'n' me, in memory of the Fill 'Er Up 'n' Keep on Truckin' Cafe. Rest easy SeeDubya...
