Its quite an epic plot compared to most (all?) other shmups. Adam and Eve - restarting of the human race type stuff. Plus the fact that the gold object - "the Stone-Like" shows up in Ikaruga - always made the lore that much more intriguing.

Yep. That Penta fight has so much going on most players will never see - especially if your weapon levels are high. I purposely tried to extend almost all of the bosses as much as I could in this entire video. I know I for sure missed some patterns in the endgame turtle boss though.

Bummer. Its a great scene. Im sure the game is full of things people would miss on playthrus. Thats part of the charm.

Its such a niche game that requires some pretty devout dedication and practice - its tough getting 2 of those players on simultaneously. I tried co-op with several friends and it didnt pan out so well, heh. I have let friends try the final boss over the years using the stage select (on the Saturn version in particular) - just to show some people not familiar with Silvergun or shumps in general how crazy videogames can get in the far corners of the medium.

There are quite a few shmups on Xbox - but still many notable omissions in recent years. Things like Death Smiles, Metal Black, Battle Garegga, Layer Section, and all the Psikyo shumps are on Xbox - but the newer M2 Shottriggers, and stuff like Psyvariar and Rolling Gunner skip the console. It doesnt make much sense to me. Hopefully things get better - it does seem more Japanese titles are releasing on Xbox recently. Batsugun comes out in May!

@@ortsed7 Thanks for the heads up man. I didnt know it had a decent amount of shmups on there. I dont have a Series yet (im putting together a list of some games and saving up money). I cant wait for Batsugun! Hopefully they will release more m2 on the system in the near future.

@@techknow9237 Unfortunate. I know I read online about being able to switch regions to purchase stuff - im not sure how to do it though. You might want to research into it. Battle Garegga is one of the best games of all time.

You can use both the joystick and dpad on Xbox. I personally use the Dpad on a 6 Face Button Hori Fighting Commander compatible with Series X, Xbox 1, Xbox 360, and PC. The button layout mimics the Sega Saturn pad.

Yep that was rough - but its that last course which is the nastiest. Still havent figured that track out yet.

Absolutely. Fun to play - and a beauty to look at. It handles so fun in Rally 2.

100% agreed. I remember it happening right after a particularly difficult section as well. Very cruel but hardcore gamer design. Itagaki is missed...

Thanks for watching. The beginning section vs Strigon was a separate session from my memory - with qamm. I just wanted to include some scenes vs Strigon on Ace Difficulty without using any allied support - which is quite a challenge on Ace and using '1st person mode only' on top of that. For the majority of the video - actually going after the objective was done with RCL. There are some incredibly unfair parts at the tail end of the level when you have to take out the 6 AA guns guarding the tunnel. Im not entirely sure the devs balanced that section with the DLC Yellow 13 jet and its paper thin armor/health. It took some trail and error to figure out how to advance there. With Yellow 13 not having any long range locking ground weapons, you pretty much have to use allied support to get them to take out the AA - but it seems you, yourself have to damage or kill a few first by risking getting into their firing range and escaping that range quickly - if you dont, the allied support doesnt take out any of the AA. Then the actual AA in the tunnel is almost a coin toss if they will kill you or not. So yes - there were some game overs in the trail and error.

Taken in context to the entire story of AC6 - the little girl part makes sense - but yeah those lines are a bit out of place and cheesy here. I think some things are lost in the translation to English as well. The best aspect of Japanese games, and Ace Combat in particular, is that many rely on player skill - you only go as far as your skill takes you - especially on higher difficulties. Its this skill-based design centered around 'actual' challenge that makes the gameplay so much more engrossing than that of many Western efforts...

Its the Xbox Live port - nearly identical to the Dreamcast version. If you know of any differences outside of online and leaderboard support - id like to know.
