Can I just add one thing. If there's some form of receptionist, or AD with a clipboard, or anyone telling you to take a seat and we'll call you in a minute... Be nice to these people too. It's not uncommon for Producers, CDs and especially Directors, to ask these people what the actors were like before they entered the room. If you are rude, arrogant or just unpleasant to them, or to the other actors, the word will get back to them.

I auditioned for a part of a hit-man at a local theatre 5 years ago . I walked in, shut the door behind me and sat down. Before the casting director got to finish say hello, I pulled out a replica Gloc 19 with a suppressor, aimed at his chest and pulled the trigger while making the suppressed shot sound effects with my mouth (PSHP, PSHP). Then I put on a fake moustache, took off my fake glasses, changed my shirt and walked out the room and silently shut the door behind me like nothing happened. I opened the door again and peeped inside the audition room, the casting director's facial expression was in still in a state of shock and all the blood had drained from his face. I sheepishly asked "Um...., was that good?" I started rehearsals 3 days afterwards at the theatre.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for doing these videos. I just now stumbled across them and they're so helpful. Really helpful insights :) I was wondering if the wedding monologue was one that you wrote specifically for students or one that they were doing from a film/series? If it's the latter would it be ok to use it? I assume if not it wouldn't be right too as I haven't paid for classes with you or anything and so it'd be your copyright. No worries if not, I just loved it so much I thought it was worth asking.

And now this is obsolete for 99% of first auditions. Everything is self-tape

In Australia we have to audition without a script, which adds to the nerves.

This is very interesting to watch. There are so many subtle things, subtext in the script, opportunities missed by the actors involving choices and underlying tones that are clear messages as clues by the writer that were not taken even though they were hand fed by the script.

This video is Spot On!!! Fantastic. I am reopening my Acting Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico (USA) in a few months... (I'm supposed to be retired)... because I miss this, teaching students to be self-confident in every aspect... "Bravo"... Ballyhoo... I teach this exact same thing (goes for job interviews too). Holly explained this so well... Thank you so much for this video... "Break a Leg" (OH... thats my stage work too) LOL...

My issues are memory, I have an awful memory :-/. I've been an extra for 2 movies one with Tom Holland (Cherry) and another one with Martin Sheen won't see me in the Martin sheen movie but in cherry I'm in the bank scene with Tom Holland. That was one heck of an experience I'll never forget!
