I find turning the flint around also helps. Don't know why. But I'll take it out, turn it around so the worn end is now on the bottom, and it acts like a new flint.

These are the basic problems zippo uses often come across. There must be something else wrong with yours.

Zippo fuel AKA naphtha, is a hydrophobic lipid. It forms up a portion of WD-40. What does the WD stand for? Water displacing. Even if a Zippo gets fully soaked in water, if there is enough fuel in the tank, it will fill the wick back up once the Zippo is away from the water, forcing water out of it. If you have a deal with a waterlogged Zippo, simply add new fuel to the bottom and the water will be displaced and forced out at the wick end. That is why Zippos are reliable. They are simple, and the rest is basic chemistry.

Thank you for the help. When I took out the screw I didn't realize the flint fell out, so when I put it back I only had the flint screw and no flint. No spark. This was brand new so I knew it wasn't the lighter. I found the flint on the ground put it in the hole first then the spring with the flint screw and BAM spark was back. Thanks again. 👍👍👍

Wrong. You're supposed to oil mechanisms. Springs are adjustable.

Try rewire wick inside the lighter, all new zippo has to do for best result, lots of videos on it.

Common failure is too, that the wick is too burnt and sucks no gasoline. So put it out a little and cut the burned end

I tried all of these methods and the lighter I just bought still doesn't work. I tried spraying it with something flammable and all that looked like it did was ruin the wick. Not expected of a 17$ lighter. It's one thing to not do its job properly, it's another thing to not work. I should have looked more into its reviews before buying. Frustrating experience.

Im sorry his voice is hilarious. That intro. Why ya zippa might not loyte. All jokes aside i learned some things.. Zippos are the best. I get old dead bic lighters unlimited flint free. Then just a huge bottle of charcoal lighter fluid a little of that and that thing lasts soo long..

Well this is certainly extremely helpful for a couple of lighters I have thank you very much. However the one problem I'm having in one of them I didn't see here. My flint striker will only spin backwards, not in the direction needed to light the lighter. Do you know what is wrong? I'm at a loss here it's been fuckin broke for a week man.

Try spinning it backward a few times to smooth out the flint, you will find spinning forward made possible.

@@andrewsze4528 yeah I had tried that, it would only go backwards never forward. However unfortunately that lighter was stolen from me... It was a silver plated lighter with my grandfather's name (Frank) in I think 18k gold on the front with a beautiful inlayed gold and ebony pattern on it. I'm still very angry about that 6 months later and I'll probably be angry about it for the rest of my life, that was the one item my grandfather left to me and anyone who saw me with it knew how important it is to me but they didn't care because it's worth a few hundred bucks at LEAST. I never took it out with me or really used it much except on occasions which warranted a cigar like my uncle who also passed and gave me a Zippo used to smoke with him, so whoever stole it had to have stolen it while they were in my home. I haven't told anyone about it but once I find out who took it I'll either be taking it back or I'm gonna have a new one made out of teeth embedded in clear epoxy resin......

I have a pretty new lighter..3 months old. Just put a new stone in ( not the first time) it wont light. I can't even get it to budge. Not forward not in any direction. It's stuck! What to do?

use some more strenght to spin the wheel, or you can take out the flint and flip it other side to put back in to see.

hey, thank you so much for this video. My zippo wasn't sparking and it was EXACTLY the issue of flint screw. I went and purchased some zippo flint, added it to my zippo and its back to normal. Thanks again for this fix !!!!!!
