Hello. I am planning to apply for Diploma of Nursing in IHNA. May I ask how long the semesters are? And how long are the semester breaks and summer breaks? Thank you for your reply.

Hi I was due to start next Monday, and now they’re telling me it’s delayed again due to issues with funding (WA fee free from gov). Did you face any issues with them on that? They seem to only email me the Friday before the Monday it’s supposed to start, so frustrating to book leave again to be told they don’t know when I’ll be able to commence. 😢

Hi Halley, thanks so much for your video- it has helped me to decide to study Nursing at IHNA. I will be starting this July and wanted to know what I need to buy for the course? Any other helpful tips that you think might help me on my journey would be much appreciated. Thanks, Brittany 😊

Hell.. to the no 😂 haha. No so, for us at IHNA, you have to have completely finished all assignments, exams and OSCAs BEFORE going on placement. Then the only work you have to do is your clinsoft stuff which you do with your facilitator on the job so you’ll be fine. ❤❤ good luck!!!!

Starting my Diploma of Nursing soon. Would you recommend buying a laptop or an iPad with keyboard for studying & assessments?Thanks!😊
@Halleys_adventures
@Halleys_adventures Ай бұрын
Hi love! It really depends on what you can afford. If you already have a laptop then use that for now just make sure you have a proper Microsoft office package so you can use all the programmes. If you have nothing and need to buy something then I mean the options are endless. I have. A laptop and it is maybe 7 years old, it still works but not well all the time. So I went with an iPad Pro 12.9” with the keyboard etc and I use this as my main computer. If I didn’t have my laptop I probably would’ve gone laptop first because you really need to be able to open documents and stuff with ease and the iPad can be a bit annoying sometimes but it’s gettting better.

They don’t sponsor unfortunately, you can study as an international. However because we were born in Australia we do get free tuition at the moment post Covid but usually it’s 10-20k (thousands of dollars). Thanks so much!

Hey Halley, congratulations to you all welcoming a new baby into the world :) I binge watch you when I am not doing mum duties! I am in QLD so I know it might be different but I was wondering how long after graduating your DON that you have to apply for a grad position? Do you have to do it straight away? Xx
@Halleys_adventures
@Halleys_adventures 2 ай бұрын
Hi darling! Omg that’s so sweet 🥹 thank you! Okay so I might do a viddy on this because we kinda got let down by the system here. WA grad connect programmes have ONE application time in the year regardless of how far in you are. So we have to apply in March/April for the end of the year/beginning of next year grad programmes. If you don’t apply then, you miss out. There is a few private sectors that have grad programmes that open for the next year in June and August but again if we don’t look for this info we don’t know :( but the short answer, you don’t have to wait until your finished to apply! I’ve applied for all the unis for next year already ❤

Also you don’t even HAVE to apply for a grad programme. You can still get a job without it xx

Hi Hayley, Hope you doing well. Would like to know what are your ideas on if a diploma of nursing student after completing DON does not want to pursue RN . I am doing DON at the moment . But, feel like it is satisfying for me. Also, Does EN career has good demand of being in health industry long term. I keep hearing the govt wants to remove ENs. Would like to know your opinion given that you have so much of knowledge and community network. Good luck to you for 3rd semester. Thank you
@Halleys_adventures
@Halleys_adventures 2 ай бұрын
Hi lovely! Thanks for your comment. I might reach out to my platform on TikTok and see what others say? I don’t think you NEED to go onto RNs, unless you’ll want to progress further and lead/teach/supervise etc. My only reasoning for going this way first was to get the diploma to get into uni. Would I feel fulfilled if I just stayed here? Maybe for now! But I’m known to not sit still and always want to progress. But if you feel comfortable and happy then just do it! Get a great grad programme if you can and go from there! Thanks so much xxx

Hey darling! Thanks for the kind words 🩵 I just have standard black crocs and I have jibbitz in every hole on the top so needle proof hahaa this is what most do in the hospitals I was in. However, you can get fully closed in croc clogs on their website with back straps. It’s really facility dependent on what is allowed where. I have the Tokyo Birkenstocks which are like bostons but black leather with a strap at the back and I mostly wear those. Xx

Such a shame! Also, so sorry but I had to remove your other comment because your opinion was based off your crappy interactions with the school, you didn’t actually get to start and study with them so it’s false information to say they are no good and TAFE is better. You are 1000% entitled to your opinion but it is my account that gets slammed :( That is totally fine queen! Everyone will have a different opinion and experience! Mine hasn’t been perfect but I’m almost finished now and have had high commendations on my performance at nursing placements in one of the biggest trauma hospitals in Perth, and that’s got to be a testament to my learning and skill set. You get out what you put it and once you start you don’t have to really deal with admin and stuff thank gosh! The lecturers and professors are amazing! I have actually mentored 4 batches of TAFE students through my workplace in their first placement and you guys have it very easy and your facilitators are lovely!! So whilst TAFE has better communication, you can’t justify saying in general that it’s way better haha. I really Hope your journey is going well and you get out of it what you hope and you’ll be an amazing nurse ❤

Hello! Are you from Australia? Did you go to School here? If you did then your chances of getting in will be easy and it’s also free this year! If English isn’t your first language you might have some trouble but once you get in you get in, and they have tutoring available to help, the best thing to do would be to contact IHNA and tell them your history bearing in mind I had no medical experience whatsoever either. I’ve learnt everything from being at Nursing school. Good luck ❤
