I own a vstar 1100 and has been a pain in my ass. I mean cleaned carbs about 20 times to get running, then starter clutch went out. Now backfires like a sun of a gun. I finally said screw it and rejetted the carbs added a better exhaust and uni air filters and runs a lot better, only thing is that it still backfires

I want to know for a faster bike (honda vtx 1300) if you're trying to get more speed out the bike, is there a aftermarket drive shaft or is honda stock good enough even if I increase the hp?

Thanks a lot for this review. In few days, I am buying used C50 as my first "big" bike here in Belarus (previously imported from US), and some of your comments are really helpful!

I know this is an older video, but why did you keep saying they were all air/oil cooled? That changed in 2013. Kind of an important detail to miss.

ONLY thing about used FJR's is that the ones I've looked at had seriously bad maintenance. Ungreased drive shaft, incorrectly bleed ABS brake fluids, never changes coolant, never changed air filter or spark plugs, no throttle sync ever done, leaky front fork seals.

I liked your honest review. Pros: Beautiful looking bike. Great power train. Cons: Uncomfortable seat. Brakes are better suited for kind of off road, lacking for street riding. 545 pounds....way too heavy for off road. ' Needs a tad bigger fuel tank. Having to fill up before you go empty....fill around 120 miles. The more I looked at the bike, the more I wanted one. Sitting on the bike changed my mind in a hurry. There's a good reason they only made it one year. Barry

How about for a first time rider, man in his 40's, that wants to go off road into trails and what not? I won't be blasting down any tracks or anything like that. Would you still recommended a smaller dirt bike or less powerful one or an ATV? Thanks for the video.

Leg lengthening is possible now. You can lengthen your legs 4-6 inches for a fee of course. They cut the bone and splice it.

Went to a bike shop and sat on fjr and concourse...also banshee 1250....for me the yamaha was most comfortable as Gtr was broad across the seat. . Banshee was nice also. So far fjr first, then the gtr...im a very big guy and I think I can handle either one as these pretty well....thanks for your good vid.

If someone came and said he wants the 1000 but is new? Personally as a rider, it’s too much power for a beginner but that’s what he wants. Do I talk him out of it “right thing” or let him get it and pray for the dude…

If you've been riding modern motorcycles, 1 ride on most any KLR will make you realize why these things are ignored. Kawasaki has smeared so much lipstick on these pigs, it cant go on for ever. 445 lbs at least, maybe 35 HP, wobble box handling, craptastic cheap suspension, minimal brakes. Its like going back to the 80's. Now its an "ADV" bike, meaning super heavy is great! If you dont expect much, dont want any convenience at all? This is your bike.

I have an SCR 950 basically avparts bin special Bolt. Its simply ultra reliable, a pleasure to ride and so simple to maintain. I had the seat upgraded with extra padding and its my daily driver. I have covered 55000 trouble free miles riding year round in all kinds of weather in the UK. Its great badically a 1980's bike. Its a keeper.

Ive got a 1997 model which had under 2000 miles when i got it and was mint! I think its a great bike but there is no way my one is getting to the 115 - 120 mph range, no way. I have only managed to get it to 90, and that was down a very long hill on the motorway. Also, it is awful in cross winds! The faired version must be far worse. However, i love the soft suspension. It eats up the worst holes on Scottish roads! Great reliable bike as long as any carb problems have been sorted. Also i changed the oil and filter after the recomended time and the old filter had disintegrated and it was like wire wool as i drained the oil. So change the oil and filter BEFORE the recomended time. And always change the filter with the oil. Only other bad thing is the lean into the handlebars. Its a stretch with the drop bars and is hurting my back. My hands and arms are going numb at night in bed!
