Lovely to see Wells’ streets and pavements without a thick covering of anthracite Range Rovers. Honestly, there are other types of car than just grey high-end SUVs.

Oh my goodness, I saw this so I had to watch it and all the wonderful memories I have of Wells came flooding back. My favourite seaside resort then and now. I was born and bred in London but my Nan was from Wymondham, which they settled in when Grandad retired. My only holiday was with mum and dad to stay with dads parents in Wymondham and see Norfolk by train or by bus. I remember visiting Wells by train every year, the last being in 1964 when I was eight years old. No harbour railway then, we all had to walk all the way to the lifeboat station, well worth it. Fondest part was where the water gathered when the tide went out, large deep pools of very warm water heated by the sun, it was bliss. Loved seeing the MTB in the harbour, dad served on them during WWII. On top of that you could not pick better music than from Vaughan Williams. Thankyou.

My blind Uncle Derek Evans was a resident at Saxondale Hospital. We'd catch the trent Bingham 102 service and get off at the wooden bus stop on the bus turning point roundabout near the main entrance. When yoi walked upto the ward thru the corridoor there were black rubber doors with port holes in them. Great video... i wish somebody had made a video back then thou

I've read in the previous comments that before it was an hospital it was a quarry or a big joinery factory . I worked at a farmer's in East Leake and he said the site was formerly part of his farm .Can anyone verify that ?

I have a box of spotting books in my loft which include some Ian Allen books and also some of my own personal journals of spotting trips. My era was '75 to early 80's - aged 11-17/18. I lived (and still do) just south of Preston on the West Coast main line. I still distinctly remember paying £1.44 for a return fare from Leyland to Derby (presumably for the open day) perhaps in 1976 or 77 when I would've still been young enough to pay half fare. This journey would've been Leyland to Preston on a Manchester to Blackpool DMU. Then Preston to Crewe on a Glasgow or Carlisle to Euston class 86/7 hauled express. Then onto a cross country DMU from Crewe to Derby. Happy memories...............

Wells-Next-The-Sea Police Station. The new, rather colourful patrol base for Norfolk Constabulary at Wells. The previous Police Station built in 1962 was demolished and the grounds are being developed as a patrol office and bungalows.

I like to think that I played a part in the construction of the QMC when working for Linden Cranes, as the company was then known, before it became Linden Alimak. I was the Assistant to the Technical Director and part of my job was to work out the safe working loads and overturning moments for the cranes on site. I also had to deal with the irate site managers when things didn’t quite go as planned but I enjoyed being in charge of sending our fleet of service engineers to site to sort out problems. I am a regular visitor to the QMC these days due to the various problems that tend to be associated with old age but often reminisce about my time with Linden Cranes when I lived in London. Now in my seventies I can look back with pride and say, “I helped build that!”

Only photos and some music, no video, not even spoken text. It would have been better as a website, than text could have been placed outside the pictures instead of obscuring those. 👎👎👎

I was a freight driver and pushed a 225 into a loop with my freight train about 18 years ago, class 56, about 800 tonnes on the coupling, grabbed the 225 after about a 5 hour delay sitting behind it, at Grantshouse, Scotland, the 225 struck a tree lying on the catenary wire, this in turn snapped a part of his photograph, the driver of the 225 was clueless, leave that story for another day, he departed Edinburgh at 9pm and i got him in clear at Berwick up loop at 06:54 in the morning, what a night.

Had to go there to have a cyst removed from behind my right knee , they inserted the drain needle but couldn’t find a syringe to fit it, I had to wait twenty minutes while they looked elsewhere to locate one, ( they left the needle in me ) that experience gave me a life long fear and hatred of hypodermic syringes ,till I was old enough to realise that injection needles were considerably less painful than those used for draining purposes. Ended up in Harlow Wood to have surgery to cure its recurrence , unhappy memories.
