Charlie Williams was a great comedian and good humoured sport.

Why does this presenter talk like he is slightly slow in mind. I live in Yorkshire and have never heard anyone talk in such a strange way.

Unbiased! Nonsense Harry, old boy! He said that whoever wins he hopes they beat Manchester United. Old Charlie … I saw him at Bridlington as a kid, either in 1979 or 1980. Happy memories of a traditional British summer holiday.

Honestly I'm not Barnsley fans but as football lover, I have to admit the programme have high historic value. If you have those real programme then you should proud because you already participate for protecting Barnsley pieces of history. Respect for you and I wish you always healthy and happy, my friend :)

They demolished our village colliery The North Gawber Colliery Mapplewell and refuse to erect half of a headgear wheel to span the gateway to our village recreation ground. No doubt scrap was of more value than a memory. One sad story about mining is still kept a secrete or never mentioned, "The fate of an injured or retiring pit pony", perhaps one day their story will be told, alas, but we doubt it. I lived next to a pit pony field 1940's & 50's, we knew all their names, some were show ponies, we even had one pony that won the All England Pit Pony Champion Cup at the Royal Yorkshire Show held in Wakefield. It was never talked about of their fate, but it was address in the House of Commons in 1952 with a shocking report.

Colne Dynamoes folded in 1990 because they were refused entry to the GM Vauxhall Conference after winning the HFS Loans league in 1989/90. Their ground wasn’t up to Conference standard. I think they would have become a football league club if they’d carried on. Strange story because they folded almost overnight.
@ChrisDavis-nl7yu3 жыл бұрын
They did, but it wasn't quite as simple as that. They did attempt ground sharing at Burnley, but that fell through and the plug was pulled on their cash. Colne FC of the Northern Premier League are effectively the phoenix club and still play at Dynamos' Holt House home.

Apparently there was a bad crush at the Everton end that day and could have turned into a hillsborough type incident if there hadn’t been room to move the fans over a bit. Especially down the front.

I was there. The first and only time I sat in the west stand seats. I distinctly remember the ground seemingly took over by Leeds fans. Maybe it just seemed like that on account of the number of away fans there usually were at Oakwell.
