This has brought tears to my eyes. I was lucky enough to see Mark and Ray flying warbirds in New Zealand many times. They were both masters. ❤

I love the P-40 and the sound of an Allison engine! The P-40 among the most maneuverable allied fighters with an amazing roll rate, dive speed and turn rate. Below 15K feet they were a very tough opponent for both the Germans and the Japanese.

WOW.......Even in this brilliant video, that beautiful ,priceless piece of aviation history performs a Short take off in only 15 seconds!!.....Just imagine what a machine only a few years old could do during the war years!?......The right machine for a tough job!

I remember this Dragon Rapide from the early 1950s when it took passengers (paying 5/-- or 25 pence) on a flight around London Airport. Every day it could be seen flying around the West Middlesex area. It was then owned by Adie Aviation.
@HighFlight5 күн бұрын
You have a great memory. Adie Aviation owned it from 1948 to 1953. The cheapest pre booked flight I can find today in a Rapide, with Classic Wings at Duxford, is £99, although they sometimes do 'on the day discounts'. That's 'beerflation'! 9p a pint of beer in 1952 = 6 pints a flight with some change and today it's more like 20 pints at £5 a pint.

My Dad flew XJ729 over 70 times, including scrambles, during 1957 and 1958. At that time XJ729 was in its original piston engine form. I did offer log book data to Historic Helicopters, but received no response. Dad finished his RAF career in 1968 at CFS (H) Ternhill as an instructor on Mk 10's. I believe he was qualified to fly the Royal family.

@HighFlight16 күн бұрын
Thank you for your nice comment. Hopefully you will get to see inside her (I've still to do that myself). I joined the Sally-B supporters club this year as I have never been a member but realised what a joy it has been to have seen Sally-B at airshows over the last 40+ years and it was about time I gave something back. Members get the opportunity to have tours inside her on set dates during the season when she's not otherwise engaged. If you're not a member and are interested here's a link to their website. Membership also gives free admission on non airshow or event days to The Imperial War Museum at Duxford, where she's based. www.sallyb.org.uk/supporters-club.htm
