Hi Benjamin, i like the effective and authentic way you share your experience. It makes me feel allowed to connect for a simple question if you ever have some time for it. Do you know if it is realistic to find a fifo mining job without experience for a person living out of Australia who would then need a visa and maybe be supported by a company ? i'm over the age limit for a working-hollyday visa but i recently find out about fifo jobs and it became kind of a new exciting goal to me.

Hey Lucien, ah thanks so much! Glad you like it. When I applied for fifo, I needed a residential Perth address so for majority you need to be onshore based here. Also for sponsor from what I’ve been told from visa agents you need a certain level of experience. In my current industry (hospitality) I need 3 years. Not too sure on the mining front but it was really hard to get my foot in the door as entry level. Hope this helps 🤙🏾

Hi Benny! I got inspired very much by your content among some other creators on KZfaq and made a decision to move to Perth for one year on a Student Visa (study, work & travel) . I already got my visa granted along with my college course secured in Lexis Training (Scarborough) which I am due to start in October 2024. I am planning to arrive to Perth either late September or very first week of October. I am yet to find accommodation and need to get my flight tickets. I appreciate you are a busy person, but is there any chance we could hop on a facetime/whatsapp call, I would really appreciate some advice from you, given that you are already quite an experienced resident there in Perth. I will owe you a cold one once I arrive to Oz for sure. Thanks a bunch! Paulius

Hey Mohamed, thanks for reaching out! (: when I was last up there, there was a lot of labour work going on. For Entry level labouring jobs you just need a white card. Get that sorted online & then apply for labour jobs. Alternatively, the Darwin town was fairly busy when I was there, could get a job in hospitality as glass collector/dishy. You need RSA for glassy which is cheap & easy to get. Hope this helps mate, All the best 🇦🇺🤙🏾

I was planning on working in the mines in AUS for making money and traveling around AUS and nearby countries. I was won,dering in what order should I do what : find a job first then move to AUS or the other way around?. I saw that there was many tickets needed to work there. Which ones do you advice to get ? I have so many questions and its kinda hard to plan what i'm gonna do as a foreigner. Any advice for me?
@BenjaminHardingx
@BenjaminHardingx Ай бұрын
Hey Robin, thanks for reaching out! 🙏🏽 Here’s a step by step plan on what to do if you want to get into the mines: 1. Get the visa granted from home affairs website (Working Holiday Visa easy to apply for) 2. Book flights & insurance 3. Find accommodation in Perth (use fb marketplace/flatmates Aus & message those that meet your budget/requirements - research early as much as possible. Hostels and air bnb’s are pricey (depends on your budget though) Share houses - short term & long term rentals I’ve found to be cheaper 4. When you arrive sort out your phone number (Telstra shop) driving licence (Department Of Transport) & Medicare (Medicare facility) Also you’ll need a residential address for your WA Driving licence. 5. Then your qualifications/certs: As a minimum on the mines I got the following: - White card (occupational health & safety construction card, recognised regionally - apply online) - First aid (do it with St. John’s, book online) - Working at heights (book online) Those 3 are the cheapest for entry requirements. The HR Licence is also desired by most mine sites, this costs over 1k+ though. 6. Apply for jobs consistently online, through seek jobs, jora local, indeed, direct on mining websites. (Have your CV/Resume updated & ready to send employers - you’ll also need a WA residential address & aussi phone number on there too) 7. Network & socialise with other fifo workers when you get here to learn more about the industry/getting your foot in the door. As you can tell, there’s a few things to sort upfront but that’s a time & money investment to gain a decent fifo job that alot of people desire. Alternatively go work in other industries for few months & then take a break to travel. Research all your options & choose what best suits you (: Hope all this info helps mate, any other questions, give me a shout! All the best 🙏🏽🇦🇺 Benny

Hey man...just came across your video and have to say really enjoyed it. Pretty refreshing. We have a fair chunk of stuff in common and similar outlook (apart from im maybe not at the stage you are with regards to the businesses). Any advice would be great im currently trying to decide as I dont meet the WHV criteria and would have to go straight for PR. From Bristol UK. Cheers

Hey Gary, thanks for reaching out! 🙏🏽 super glad that you enjoyed it mate ☺️ Nice to know we have a few things in common too 🤙🏾 Definitely, I find Perth to be alot more laid back than all the other places I’ve lived in. There’s tons of community for sport & fitness (my work plays every Monday at the Astro turf in multiple games). All the fitness classes & gyms are busy & thriving. I’ve been to 4 gyms in the last few months & all social & impactful as an healthy environment for growth. My favourite gyms are REVO Fitness. It’s a chain and they’re all over Perth 🙌🏽 As for the construction background, there’s so many developments happening with residential builds & beyond. Eg. In between burns beach & Mindarie. I haven’t worked in construction here though. Personally I’ve found Perth to be a place where it’s about who you know, not so much what you know. Most of my opportunities with work, accom & lifestyle events have happened due to knowing the right people. (Those that can help with your goals) If you can get PR straight out the gate and be eligible to get it lodged asap then that’s a god send 💯🙌🏽 Processing times for visas here are SOO LONG. Ah Bristol, I’ve been there a few times when I’m back in the UK. My best mate lives there. Cool. Hope all this helps Gary, any other questions, lmk! 🤙🏾 All the best bud, Benny

Hey Ashley, thanks for reaching out! Most my accommodation have been share houses. I found mine through fb marketplace, flatmates and word of mouth through my work. My last 2 houses were through my work colleagues so that’s why they were cheaper. For 200 a week Ive got private room, shared bathroom, parking space, close to shops & gym. I have my car too so this creates flexibility with where to stay. If you’re going to be relying on public transport I’ve seen some cheaper share house rentals in the city, easier to get around & network at same time if you want to save for car/upgrade accom. Hope this helps bud 🙏🏽☺️ Any other questions, give me shout (:

Hello A S, thanks for your comment! No worries at all 🙏🏽 glad you enjoyed it (: Not easy, it’s currently being processed at the moment, a lot of paperwork that takes time! My employer has a migration agent that sorts the nomination & I have my own migration agent to do the applications for me. They’re the pros & can make the process easier. This has also cost me fair bit money so get those savings built up 🙌🏽 id say make sure you pick an employer that you feel comfortable to collaborate with & see with long term too. Hope this helps! 🙏🏽 when it’s sorted I try do a video on it (:

Hi Ben, was the construction work you did in the Northern Territory easy to find? How did you go about it? I'm thinking of heading over in a month or so and it seems like I'd be best getting the regional work out of the way first with the time of year. Construction in Darwin counts towards the 88 days doesn't it?
@BenjaminHardingx

Hey Daireb123, thanks for reaching out! It did take a few weeks yeah. I signed up with 2-3 agencies when I arrived. 1. Core staff 2. Protech 3. Red Appointments agency I found my labouring job. Worked on casual basis & just did as many hours as they would give me. Yeah the whole of NT is considered regional & goes towards the 88 days. I don’t think you have to do it after JULY though? Double check that on home affairs website. Hope this helps & all the best 🤙🏾😆

@@BenjaminHardingx thanks for the quick reply. I'll look into those agencies. So if I can only get casual hours too how does it work?
