It doesn't normally do Hi-Lo at all. It *should* for fire calls but it doesn't because of an electrical issue i believe

@@user-nx7fr3qp3v It’s just a siren. It’s there to save lives, not to be loved by an enthusiast. You can clearly see this thing is on its last legs. It needs to be replaced no matter what you say. Think about all the people that live near this thing that has nothing but cell alerts as an alternative method which is one of, if not, the worst method to be alerted. Keep complaining all you want but this thing has to go. It’s just a siren.

Thank you! We actually only really rushed up here because apparently they're replacing from north to south, if that's true I'm not 100% sure of, though.

The bearings on either the motor or the blower itself are shot. These hurricane blowers are notorious for eating up all the oil in the bearings. And a lot of these hurricanes including this one unfortunately were never oiled so after years of use, the bearings start to seize up and if not treated asap, the motor windings themselves will be shot and the blower is then dead. These particular sirens are not the most reliable mainly cause of the flaw with the blower. And ACA knew that, as these were only made for a few short years before being discontinued in favor of the P-50's. As to why the countys EMA doesn't simply do preventative maintenance on this siren such as oiling the bearings periodically I'm not sure. They are basically just letting this siren die rather than trying to save this siren. Which sucks because it's the last commercially operating siren in the U.S after Daren Ill's got replaced and the other 2 in Texas were disconnected and later taken down. I thought I heard rumors of them replacing the blower with a thunderbolt 5M blower. According to new info stating they are just gonna keep using it until the blower dies, those rumors are false sadly.

@@zachzebra56 Thunderbolt blowers are not rated for hurricanes. It would just make it quieter so it won't happen

@@firealarmexpert25 I guess that makes sense. Though they did it with that hurricane in sirencon 2023 and it didn't sound any quieter. Though recordings were right in front of a ground level siren so it wouldn't be an accurate test.

That would definitely fix the blower and ensure the siren would continue to operate reliably for years to come, but knowing how Milwaukee is just gonna let this thing kick it's own bucket, I doubt they are gonna bother doing any of that stuff to the siren.

Woah hold up, I heard from someone that this siren was part of a separate project that would potentially involve it receiving a thunderbolt blower. Now they are just gonna let this legendary siren fall into disrepair??? I hope they dont do that! Id say someone from SWS comes out and confirms everything about this project so all the rumors can stop creating confusion.

@@zachzebra56 From what I've known so far, that ASC is going to spare this siren from the replacement of the country's siren system, because they are aware that this is the last functioning hurricane130 left. Altough... not sure how long that'll last, considering the blower which is just screaming for refurb.

It was pretty loud, but not crazy. It got noticeably quieter as it was running. The last time it faced us, it honestly felt quieter than an average Thunderbolt.

Thunderbolt sirens are the same way. The only intake they have is through the standpipe to the blower. Those long horns make a difference, otherwise if it did have its own intake including a shorter horn like the 2001 for example, it sounds similar to about the volume. May that be a reminder that it is a rotating siren and that the siren is supposed to project the sound outward in the direction its facing. The furthest the siren is away from you, the further the sound waves travel to your ears.
