Great video! Does it work with a high Y bar aswell? Core, duotone etc.

Does this work with the Ufo from Slingshot too?
@TheStevemccormack Жыл бұрын
HI, yes it will work with any inflatable kite, but you should practice in light winds first to refine your technique. Important points to check is that your bar is in good condition and in particular the flag out line. The Flag out line must be free running, and slingshot bars usually are. Its important that the flag out bungee is in good condition, especially in stronger winds.

Looks lovely can’t wait to try it out, but what do you do if your safety line is at the bottom instead? I know you could switch it by doing it on the opposite side of the wind window, but that might not be safe is it?

I've adopted your cross wind setup, launch and landing methods for over a year now. There's no faster, safer or more convenient methods, and they gave me the confidence to kite on days when few other kiters are out, giving me more time on the water. I've coached these methods to other kiters on the beach too. If everyone adopted the cross wind setup especially, it would make crowded kiting beaches more user friendly. Thanks Steve. 👍🏼👍🏼

Great video, same as all your others. You mention you switch the rigging number 2 & 3 so your flag out line is always on top. Am I right in saying you could always land it with the flag out on top regardless of rig by turning the other way - IE, you’d face the water as opposed to the land when self landing it on the beach? Thanks

Safer to launch toward the water.

I agree that rigging upwind is not safe, but on a crowded beach if everyone is rigging upwind I feel that I have to rig upwind too, so I don't mess up the traffic flow. I like how you attach your front lines first and then unroll the bar, I will try it next time. I usually walk my lines and then attach them. I think one of the reasons people rigging upwind is that it makes to walk lines downwind in stronger winds.
@TheStevemccormack5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for watching and I hope this helps you. When you attach your front lines first walking back through them is easy, just keeping the front lines between your legs and holding onto the rear lines, one in each hand. Rigging downwind when everyone at your local rigs upwind should not cause any issues.
@TheStevemccormack4 жыл бұрын
Try connecting the fronts first, makes walking back to the kite much easier, but also means there is very little chance of connecting lines incorrectly.

Tried it and works like a charm! The best and safest method to self land a kite. Just make sure that your safety line is top center line.

good vid. can you tell me why sometimes when self landing the kite wont drop front edge down onto sand, instead it lofts up then normally floats downwind a little then drops. it works, but is a little nerve racking sometimes! Ive been trying to work out why it does it sometimes and others not. thanks.

Wish I could watch you when it does not go as planned like in the video. Keep practicing, the key is to turn the kite down, let go of the bar and pop the chicken loop release and pull on the flag out line all in one quick sequence, any delay, then it can hang and flip over, but it will still land safely. If it does not sit down perfectly then just walk upwind to shorten the kites trip across part of the window before it turns and sits down by itself.
@rohinedwards75725 жыл бұрын
@@TheStevemccormack just noticed that you turn kite downwards. will try that. yes couple steps upwind and if the kite has lofted it generally drops and behaves. thanks!

@@rohinedwards7572 Yep def give it a turn down before letting go and popping the safety, then pull the flag out line.
