I don't remember the kit number off the top of the head. But you can locate the Metra item number at metraonline.com. I ordered the install kit from Amazon but there are quite a few online venders that sell it. You can also check in with your local stereo shop (if you have one) to see if they can order it for you.

Most of the Android head units on the market are made with cheap, poorly quality controlled components.

It's definitely true getting hands on will help a person learn. Unfortunately the information learned is sometimes learned is a little too late. 😄 Good luck with the S10. It does. But that's what it ended up being. No clue why two huge organizations with Hot Rod in the name. Couldn't have worked something out. Gonna be a fun time though. And everything being within a few hours of the house makes it a lot more convenient if my handy work fails. LOL

I had an 88 S10 long bed when I was a teenager but never had time to do anything with it cause I was always working. I’m currently looking to get another S10 and finally get in the game. I recently moved to North Carolina from NYC and missed the big show they had recently so I’m hoping to go to the next one. Hopefully I’ll get to meet some locals.

One of many reasons I upgraded. I've tested my Pioneer with Android Auto through the port and it works fine...not so much before the radio swap

Hi. 2020 corollas made before March 2019 don’t come with android auto. Only CarPlay, so that’s likely why it’s not working on your car. You may have already figured this out by now though.

@AwakenBlackTear That's interesting, considering mine is a 2021 and Android Auto didn't work from factory. But I'm using the factory USB port with an adapter to my Pioneer and it works fine. 👀

@@s10tacious I’m going to have to buy a whole knew head unit because mines will no longer read data from usb, phones, and other devices. They can’t update the software in it over the air or by cable since it won’t read anything. 😂 I’m shopping around for CarPlay displays that won’t get in the way since the corollas head unit already bulges out. I may settle for a rearview mirror CarPlay.

This all depends on your head unit. If you have the factory head unit, you can find the radio wiring harness pinout online. Then get harness out of a junk car with rear speakers, depin the rear speaker wires, and put them in the proper pin slots in your harness. Once you do this, you can treat it like an aftermarket headunit and just run the wires through the car to the desired location. Your next obstacle would be the harness going into the back door. I didn't have to run wires so I didn't check to see if there was a harness you have to drill through or a boot in the rear door jams. Also, you will most likely need the aftermarket speaker adapters I used and the OEM bolts to mount them.

I'm mainly focusing on the basics of what someone with the least diy skills can do. And how to make sure buyers are aware of what work they are going to get into if they don't buy an exact match.
