Cool tip! Quick question tho! When gainstaging before mix/master.. do u aim for 0 db in the master and then just lower each channel or channel groups with your utility gain to hit -6isch db in the master or is there another way for this? I usually make a premaster. Smack a utility on there with +6 db, aim for 0db in the master and then before mixdown i just remove it and land on -6db in the master. Is there any negatives with this way of working and do u have any good input for me? 😄
@LaekMusic5 ай бұрын
Great question - as long as you are hitting all of your plugins within their recommended range and not getting unwanted clipping/distortion, your way is totally valid.

Yoo this is such a great idea. Taking it one step further, I use Studio One which has take lanes as well, except they call it layers. You can actually sort of comp midi layers to create one cohesive layer. So this means you can use the layers to create several variations and then comp them together to create a mish-mash of your takes which will create unique bass lines. Can work with anything really.
@LaekMusic5 ай бұрын
Appreciate the comment! The comping feature is also available in Ableton - maybe this is something I can go over in a future video. Thanks for pointing that out!
