You said that the _Mad Dog Coil_ didn’t come with all the accessories, so you used the ones you had from _Wolf River Coils._ Assuming you hadn’t made the initial WRC purchase, would you still purchase the WRC accessories to go with your _Mad Dog?_ *73 de AF6AS in **_“DM13”_** land*
@N1JUR14 сағат бұрын
In terms of having stock its a tough one. As I know WRC and Rez frequently have supply issues. So I would go with who's got stock. But the nice thing is that parts are very interchangeable as the coil allows for ground radials, has a bypass and is a 10/24 thread so you have options for other mounts from other manufacturers.

What’s the Q on that rig ,we want to know 😎
@N1JUR12 күн бұрын
William I don’t have those numbers personally so I reached out to the designer himself and here is what he said. “I don’t have Q numbers that I can publish as these vary with specific frequency and I don’t not have professional LCR test equipment to be able to certify such Q values, but like any 107 uH inductor in a vertical antenna configuration the more inductance the higher the Q. The bandwidth on the 80 meter band using the 80 model and a 17ft whip to be within SWR 3.0:1 range is 250khz. At the middle of this sweep the SWR dipped to 1.2:1. Hope that helps.

I've struggled to get my mad dog 10m-40m antenna to tune using several different mounting options to get it to work.
@N1JUR18 күн бұрын
Mike, A couple of things.. how are you mounting your coil? what type/length of whip are you using and how long are your radials. if I know that I can help you get that antenna tuned. As its pretty easy once you understand the antenna

FYI, PoLo is already available on the regular app stores for iOS and Android. I'll probably change the "beta" label to something else, because at this point is not so much about stability but about the fact that the app will be continuously evolving and always changing, and this won't be changing anytime soon.

I love HS hotline, but it is what you make it. HINT: if you need a state, country, county or Grid for an award? Go to the users phone book online and search users in that state, county, country etc. You then start calling those Hams. I just start at the top of the list and call extensions until someone answers. I introduce myself and explain I need there country etc. I ask if they have 15 minutes to help. If yes, I invite them to a band/frequency and I call them and get that QSO. Sometimes it may require skipping to another band, but it’s always ended with a great outcome. Not only do you get what you need, but you have a new contact. WIN/WIN. For this alone it’s worth it. PS: pay no attention to anyone suggesting you stay away over internal politics. That’s nothing to do with any of us end users. Our only job is to have fun. Let others fight. 😊

Took a couple minutes updating the info on my phones. I'm fighting with one phone. It lives at the in laws house, so I brought it home to update firmware and the number, but it won't connect to my home internet. Ugh. Sometimes, things are never as easy as they should be!
@N1JUR2 ай бұрын
So, just a couple of suggestions: The "in law phone" is not assigned a static address, correct? Also, if you have a laptop, you can always update it from their location, and you're good to go!
@NovemberOneOscarGrouch2 ай бұрын
@N1JUR Nope, lol. I've even factory reset a few times figuring I'll just reprovision the phone. Probably should have just brought the laptop there, but I didn't see why it would be an issue since the original provisioning was done at home and then brought there and hooked up.
