To change the sensitivity of the release, you will have more consistent results if you bend the hook. It's not about how far the hook is pushed in. It's about the angle of that hook.

Ever since my two large Maine Coons passed two summers ago (they were both almost 20 yrs old) been having critter infestation issues! They were both awesome mousers and yes, they ate what they caught! Been here since 2010 with both of my good buddies and I believe their presence deterred even the squirrels from being near our home. I have a river that runs through my backyard. After catching, the cage goes into the drink for the afternoon. Also use cornbread and baking soda mix for bait just in case they manage to get out. Don 't need any reoccurring rodents/squirrels crawling back into my walls and ceiling crawl space. Hearing them run in walls at night to just too much. If they manage to nest in my home that's their fatal mistake! I don't piss in their tree nests so don't come here crapping, etc, in my walls!!!

This garbage doesn’t work I tried this out on five cats including the cat I was trying to trap to bring him back home they all ate the food then turned or backed out of it,I even saw the heaviest cat sit on the trap and the door didn’t even shut

Crummy trap design. You have to lift the latch and push in on the door with your arm and hold it up. What happens if the animal turns quickly and bites your arm as it exits?

You also need to know this is a unsecure load in case of a accident or a rollover. this would be a flying projectile in that case and needs to be secured down.

First, Skunks, Opposum and Raccon are N0T "rodents"; they mat be vermin, but N0T rodents. Rodents have two protruding front teeth like a rabbit or rat. Second , rust or age have nothing to do with your old model 1049 from functioning properly ! You simply need to shorten the tripping rod, either at the trigger end or the rod itself to raise the treadle higher. Good luck !

Why don't you people who are taking the time out of the day to make these video's show your viewers how to release the pest after capture? Releasing the rodent should be the most important part of the video after showing how to set the trap. Please stop wasting my time that I took out of the day to watch video's that has no conclusion.

Releasing is illegal in most states, check with your local wildlife office. Not to mention, your not helping the rodent anyway. Taking it from its nest and colonies and placing it in another squirrels territory, often leads to death of said squirrel. But the main reason for not releasing squirrels is SPREADING OF ILLNESSES AND DISEASES. So do what you like, but just because your using a havaheart trap, doesn't mean your not killing or hurting said squirrel. In my opinion if they are a nuisance to you and your property, you should be able to dispatch them. But do your own research.
