Just made it to the end. Everything was right about this video; content, excellent storytelling, engaging, well edited, good video quality, etc (I definitely could go on.) I absolutely love your home arcade. I think I know what my first retirement project will be. Again, thank you for putting a smile on my face for nearly 2-hours. Can’t wait to go through the rest of your videos. 😊

I found myself clapping and cheering as you brought it back to life at each milestone. As a 50+ year old male who enjoyed this when it was first released and came to my local 7-11 in a small East Texas town outside of Tyler, Tx, I really want to thank you for this excellent video and adventure. You’ve demystified one of my favorite childhood memories. I really appreciate you sharing this. Subscribed!!

Watching this, I feel like you put just as many hours into editing as you did for the entire restoration! Not to mention all the setup...lighting (I noticed), tripods, etc. And then I look...you added chapters in the description. And music credits, with links. And then you spent more time, editing and uploading another version, with "softer" music, because like 2 people complained that the music is distracting?! So I went and watched the rest of your videos, and I will say this: 1) Remind Mrs. Tod she is a goddess 2) It appears your arcade is missing several games :-( Please let us know what games are missing, so we can help you find suitable [absolutely derelict] examples, so you can [make more restoration videos] achieve inner peace. If you encounter issues along the way, repeat from step 1. EZ.

I'm amazed. Not just because the restoration work and the video editing/on-screen commentary is all so comprehensive, but also because I too was thinking some of the music was a bit overwhelming in the original. I was thinking "boy wouldnt it be great if KZfaq somehow had a feature to remove music from video playback..." Then I found out this version exists. I feel better knowing I wasnt the only one feeling overwhelmed by some (not all!) of the music. Thanks for making this version

Thats an awesome restore, well done!! Has given me motivation to get my Zaccari Tron completed! I already have all the repro Plastic's and I have done the Control Panel. Just got held back when it came to doing the Woodwork as has some water damage, but nothing as bad as yours!! I've only had it sitting there for over 8 years lol. I also have the Repro Glass Encom marque and coin door badge I purchased years ago 🙂

Dude, this is awesome! I just love watching you work your magic. Kudos especially to your very supportive family! Semi-joking here, but in most households, a reaction of "you spent how much on WHAT?" would have either been grounds for divorce or worse, justifiable homicide. Fortunately, my father was able to persuade his very loving wife of thirty years (they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this past October 2023) that if he was working on his boats, he wasn't out there gambling, going to strip clubs, or doing anything else detrimental to the household. She always knew where my dad was and what he was doing. Huge bonus is that your wife and son are occasional accomplices in your projects! Kudos on restoring this. Most of us would have looked at that Nintendo Red Tent and saw a bucket of tetanus instead of an arcade game to be restored. Another item that brought back memories was Pizza Hut offering dine-in table service. I actually worked in one of these places in the mid-1980s and I still miss dine-in Pizza Huts! Thanks for another awesome restoration!

I did use LED bulbs on everything but the blacklights and stuck with the originals on those for appearance reasons. As far as modern switching psu there’s a whole slew of opinions there but it depends on each game and how risky using the original will be. You’ll see me go modern for a restoration later this year. Thanks!

You should never Bondo or apply resins over any amount of rust. That will lead to Rust Spread, a form of corrosion that can continue to spread even after the filler is applied. If you don’t remove the rust, it will likely continue to corrode the metal underneath the filler, leading to further damage. You need to remove the rust, treat the surface a rust inhibitor, prime it and then apply the resins and fillers.
@tcurtis49
@tcurtis49 4 күн бұрын
That’s true. And everything I could manually remove I did, and everything else was treated several times with rust inhibitor. There may be some flash rust here and there in between but I certainly tried to avoid that scenario. Thanks!

Thanks! We have a lot of room to spread out and in rural areas like mine every house needs to be on sizeable land for septic systems, etc, so houses tend to be big. Especially in the midwest where nearly everyone has a basement. Pole Positions are readily available around here-seems like I see them for $400-600 quite often. Definitely a classic!

Zep Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner is 10% hydrochloric acid - you should try vinegar or citric acid which take longer but won't burn your eyes and skin off.

Definitely need to be careful but it’s really not that strong. If you get some on your hands you would want to thoroughly rinse it off. Pretty much like all household chemicals. I recommend using chemical resistant gloves with it. But certainly you can use something less potent if you want :) Thanks!

Thank you for posting this. You did an ACE restoration job. Not only that, you have an arcade that any eighties arcade fan would be proud to play in! All of the hits are there as far as I can tell. Hi Tod Great work really like your work on bringing these games back to life. So many in your home arcade have memories for me. I used to live next to Upper Heyford Airbase in the UK and me and my best mate spent hours and hours and many quarters on these machines, many of which you have. The hardest part for us was getting in to the Rec centre or Brown Derby where they were located "us being basicly English school kids not USAF personel" we used to keep quiet and not talk much and play lots, Many of the young service men really like playing against as a challenge and they were a long way from home so i guess we reminded them of younger brothers etc back home. one day 2 new era games got rolled in "laser Disc machines" Dragons Lair and MACH 3 now bear in mind this was a US Air Base so Mach 3 was popular and favorite of mine at the time. anyway keep up the good work, and hi to any US personel that serverd in 20th TFW at UH in the era of 1982-1986 that have a liking for arcade game and may be watching.
