Typical badly explained instructional ski video. Instructional videos should be more like dance instruction: Put left foot here, right foot there, step like this, rotate here, jump back there, etc. Not this sort of 'let all hang out'' style here.

Lieber Bastian, zu viel Neuschnee und problematische Sichtverhältnisse machten einen Start von der Valluga unzumutbar, weswegen der Start auf den Galzig verlegt werden musste. Schöne Grüße aus #stantonamarlberg

Is this man's foot okay?! Poor guy! Also, maybe next year for official footage don't mount a go pro on someone's head, because most of the video even before the crash is of his tips and the snow. I feel like a test run would have made this obvious? Hope he is recovering okay.

Dear Sarah, Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to confirm that Daniel's foot is fine; we made sure to check on him before posting his footage. Regarding the quality of the footage, please note that this isn't the only kind of coverage we have of this event. We utilized 15 cameras and multiple drones placed throughout the course to capture various angles. This comprehensive coverage was used for our live stream, which you can also find uploaded on KZfaq under the broadcaster's channel "PILGERFilm" (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mLKhoMiY2NHDhqc.html). The GoPro footage is an additional piece of content designed to provide a more immersive perspective of what it feels like to participate in "Der weisse Rausch.". However, we are considering a 360° camera for the future. Kind regards from #stantonamarlberg

I went to St. Anton every year from 1983 to 2010. This run was always the first I did each year. A little shower though.. If the weather was really nice the first pitstop was at the Ulmerhutte.. 😎

You do NOT STEER your skis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do NOT make them change direction!!! You do what they need by design and let Them make the turns which turn your feet and legs. Do you physically make the front tires of your car make turns or do you Just rotate the steering wheel and let the steering System turn the wheels? These were good demibastions of what happens but not WHY it happens. If a student doesn't know why and they just Mimick what they see, it will never work correctly because they won't have any faith in what they do and will revert to what comes naturally and that is the opposite of what the skis need.

The Snowplow Turn is the single most difficult turn to make correctly in skiing. That's for everyone including ski instructors, and it teaches everything that is wrong in skiing. Go figure because just about every teaching method in the world uses it. When demonstrated by professionals and then transitioned into parallel turns, it looks like a logical progression. In reality, the SPT naturally brings out the worst in skiers, so they are doing everything wrong as they try to balance on one ski to make parallel turns. In other words, modern ski teaching worldwide is the Anti-Christ of technically correct skiing. Why is it still taught? Two reasons. Ignorance and the instructors want the student to change direction quickly to show what a great instructor they are. Don't doubt that for one minute! Instructors should make videos of them teaching students so we can see how great they do.

I'm back. It's easier for me to just say, every single thing he showed is useless and won't help you make any kind of parallel turns.

"Ski Technique Demonstration | DYNAMIC Short Turns." This is the more accurate way to title this demonstration. "Ski Technique Demonstration | DYNAMIC Short Direction Changes." This is no doubt, beautiful skiing but not technically correct "Turning." There is no ski turning here. There is just a direction change created by a lot of physical work by rising up and thrusting his tails to the sides. The resulting down weighting digs the skis into the snow and they just go straight to the opposite side. When he lands, they just dig in again. In effect, he is jumping from side to side and landing on his heels. If you skied like that, you would be worn out in an hour. Skiing is about sliding and balancing while you allow the skis to make the turns, not by forcing them to change direction. You "Allow" the skis to turn as designed by just balancing on them while you reposition your upper body in the opposite direction of the turn to create a very quick leg angle change which will create quick "Turns!" While your skis turn to the left, your upper body goes to the right. You make turns happen by positioning your upper body in relation to your ski travel which creates the new leg angle that rolls your skis over. His upper body is mainly staying in the fall line so the leg angle change wouldn't be quick enough for quick, unaided turns.
