Warm that sticker glue with a hair dryer and you won’t need to scrape at all. I still finish with the goo begone

I realize that it's been five years and you probably won't see this comment. Still, I was sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy The Giver, as it's one of my favorite books of all time. You asked if you needed to read the rest of the quartet to understand it. You really don't. The Giver was written as its own complete story in 1993. The sequels didn't come along until much later (2000, 2004, and 2012). Messenger does answer the question about Giver's ending, but I always enjoyed discussing and debating the ending with other people. (Personally, I always believed that Jonah and Gabe made it to Elsewhere.) 🙂

Exacto knives are not good because they can cut the book. Plastic tools might be good if you can get a decent edge. It's not just ripping the book. A lot of stickers start off peeling well, but then a thin layer of paper from the sticker wants to stick to the cover. My library likes to scotch tape the plastic jacket right to the inside paper of the hard cover as well as to the jacket. I know they don't want people stealing books, but it seems like a crime against historical preservation. You would never see a museum putting tape and stickers all over everything.

You should use a hair dryer, it’s so easy to remove labels and tape if you give it some light heat

Have you ever read Hazel Gaynor? Memory of Violets, The Lighthouse Keepers Daughter and The Last Lifeboat are excellent. I savor every page of her books. Compelling writing style, interesting historical subjects examined. You’d love her.

I am looking to broaden my experience in historical fiction from different countries that we don't hear about very often. ( Like North Koorea, South America, Africa . . .). Can anyone help me out or tell me how to find books from specific countries?

Question: if there’s a nice library cover (not crinkly plastic) then why wouldn’t one want to keep the nice dust jacket protected?

Counterfeit wasn't a favorite of mine sadly. I received it from Netgalley, and I felt I needed to finish it. But I have a high interest in your other two! Y'all did great with each other this year and well Eat Pray Love, or whatever order, omgosh that's was great! That's a definite what are friends for? In the goodie bag you gave them. Where did you purchase the transparent tape highlighters? I'm not much a writer in books, but with this and darts, that would work for me! Thanks! Merry Christmas for you and your family! 🎄
