I am a graphic designer (currently still studying) and soon I am gonna switch from Windows to Mac. Many years I did completely identify with being a Windows user but the more I dug deeper intonthe graphic design world the more I became fan of using Mac. The main reason is that I everytime I see a design on a Mac I feel like it is really there. The poster is there, perfectly sharp and with true colors if it was already printed. Whereas, on my windows laptop I do not feel that way. The poster looks like "hidden" behind or filtered through a wall of pixels so to speak due to the lack of resolution. In graphic design it is a different if a line has 1pt or 0.5pt. Also fonts in 12pt look weird in "only" 1080p.

This is an interesting topic. I am a 55-year-old Senior Graphic Designer for a large corporation and also a freelance Graphic Designer. I never felt my age was a concern. Remember, clients or prospective employers are looking for experts in the industry and have a fantastic portfolio to prove it. If you claim or represent yourself as an expert, the employers will have a hint that what you are claiming is true. Don't think about your age; think about how you present yourself; after all, you are in the field of persuasion and deliverables.

I rather hire an older person with experience than a younger person who will probably quit in the next 3 months.

I am a 53 year old woman that just graduated with my BFA in Graphic Design and self teaching in illustration and painting. I refuse to let this ageist world label me and hold me down. I keep up with current trends and styles and I know the history of art and design. If us "older" people are not allowed to retire until we are 62 then you're going to have to let us work until then! PERIOD> Also, remember this, if you are young now, you WILL be older soon. Don't be ageist. You'll only be hurting your future self. We are all human beings with feelings and aspirations. Love is the answer. The mindset that older people cannot adapt to technology as quickly as the younger generation is such an ageist way of thinking. It's such a lie. I can run circles around many people in the tech world. Don't judge people by how they look. You don't judge people by the color of their skin or by their sex, so don't judge us by the number of lines on our faces and we wont judge you for your lack of experience lines. You are me and I am you.

I'm confused though because the width of the columns in the blue is 74 (not a multiple of 8), making the card a size thats not a multiple of 8. I'm new to UI so I think I'm missing something
@KaYungCalebLai
@KaYungCalebLai 6 ай бұрын
the width of the grid will also be changing based on the display size. So the content itself doesn't have to be a multiple of 8. We do try to keep the padding/margin sizing to match the 8px rule tho.

I have all the skills and competence of the job and I do it everyday, but when they started asking me questions I just froze and wasn't able to answer well. Went on rambling. Hey I am new to this field. After asking with so many seniors , I got to know that I must have my portfolio to get a job( in behance or dribbble) . Okay so I have created my account on behance but i dont have anything to upload there. I followed some UI design tutorials from youtube and posted there . I still need to learn UI design basics like typography, spacing , alignment, padding, border radius, fonts, typefaces and much more. I have a idea in my mind that I will redesign my university's mobile application because it is very bad user friendly. How can i start ? I found your video after searching so much on KZfaq. I just cant design a whole application from scratch at this level.

So thank you for your clear, succint video! Another tip that I think might help, and correct me if im wrong, but maybe looking at the curriculums of graphic design programs, seeing what they include in their classes, and looking up information based on those classes that they offer on your own.
