Say Will I think of your channel as a music time capsule, because a lot of people may not know these genres of music, but you my friend are teaching us all a lot more than we knew before. Thank you Will. Ps. Will when you mentioned the Left Banke group on Smash records, isn't Smash a subsidiary of Mercury records from Chicago?
@My-Media-Museum
@My-Media-Museum Күн бұрын
Per Wikipedia: Smash Records was an American record label founded in 1961 as a subsidiary of Mercury Records by Mercury executive Shelby Singleton and run by Singleton with Charlie Fach. Its recording artists included Frankie Valli, James Brown, Bruce Channel, Roger Miller, The Left Banke, Bill Justis, and Jerry Lee Lewis. so Yeah Mark, you're right on that info. Thanks !

Will how I got into loving the oldies of the 1950's , when I was almost eight years old, I had found a blue shoebox with a red x on it. I looked inside the box and found some 45s . I asked my mom who's they were she told me hers, she told me she didn't want them and I could have them if I shut up about it. I did shut up and quickly put them on my phonograph. Oh and Will the name you were wanting to know is Clyde Mac Phat ter.

I wonder if that "Don't call us" song is the same as the Van Halen early demo by the same title. I know Van Halen played a lot of covers during the early days and I believe there was a cover song on most (but not all) of their albums. However, the "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You" I have only heard in its demo form and it wasn't on one of their releases.

Wow, I have confused these two forever and never realized they were two different people. Stephen Bishop and Elvin Bishop are indeed different artists. Thank You for pointing this out as it is an eye (ear) opening moment for me. I did know that Elvin didn't sing the song, that was Mickey Thomas on vocals who would later become the lead singer for Jefferson Starship. This was an honest mistake on my part as I have confused the two artists for a long, long time. Stephen Bishop was the guy in Animal House whom John Belushi took the guitar from and smashed it against the wall. My Apologies to all.

Killer Queen was originally released on the Elektra caterpillar label, just before it was changed over to the butterfly label in the mid-70's. As for We Are the champs, it is hard to tell b/c Elektra records used the butterfly and red label were used at the same time, although the red label was the more current of the two.

Actually, filmmakers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider were inspired by the Beatles' film A Hard Day's Night and decided to develop a television series about a fictional rock and roll group. Raybert sold the series idea to Screen Gems in April 1965, and Paul Mazursky and Larry Tucker completed a pilot script by August entitled "The Monkeys". Trade publications Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter ran an ad on September 8, 1965, seeking "Folk & Roll Musicians-Singers for acting roles in new TV series." As many as 400 hopefuls showed up to be considered as one of "4 insane boys". Fourteen actors from the audition pool were brought back for screen tests and Raybert chose their final four after audience research. Micky Dolenz, son of screen actor George Dolenz, had prior screen experience under the name "Mickey Braddock" as the 10-year-old star of the Circus Boy series in the 1950s. Englishman Davy Jones was a former jockey who had achieved some initial success on the musical stage, appearing with the cast of Oliver! on The Ed Sullivan Show the night of the Beatles' live American debut. He was appearing in Columbia Pictures productions and recording for the Colpix record label and had been identified in advance as a potential star for the series. Texan Michael Nesmith's mother Bette Nesmith Graham had invented a correction fluid and founded the company that became Liquid Paper. He had served a brief stint in the U.S. Air Force and had also recorded for Colpix under the name "Michael Blessing". Peter Tork was recommended to Rafelson and Schneider by friend Stephen Stills at his audition. Tork was a skilled multi-instrumentalist who had performed at various Greenwich Village folk clubs before moving west, where he worked as a busboy. All of this info copied from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monkees_(TV_series) Neil Diamond did write "I'm A Believer" as well as "A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You" "Take a Giant Step" is a song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and first released by American pop rock band the Monkees in 1966 on the B-Side of "Take The Last Train To Clarksville". The duo also wrote "Pleasant Valley Sunday" and some other songs that were recorded by the Monkees. Sidney Thomas "Tommy" Boyce (September 29, 1939 - November 23, 1994) and Bobby Hart (born Robert Luke Harshman; February 18, 1939) were an American duo of singer-songwriters. In addition to three top-40 hits as artists, the duo is well known for its songwriting for The Monkees. (including: Take The Last Train To Clarksville and the TV Shows Theme song) "Daydream Believer" was written by John Stewart who is also well known for his solo hit "Gold" which also included Stevie Nicks on backing vocals.
