Depends on the situation, but if you're asking about a normal type of knockdown half swing, basically the same.

@@Golf-Ed lol yeah I know it but it's kinda aggravating when channels do this. If someone just wants to scroll YT shorts but also wants the info you're hinting at, now they have it without going terribly out of their way. Personally I'm a lot more likely to subscribe to a channel when I appreciate the way they operate than just if I'm interested in the content... it's not hard to get back to a channel for content without subscribing. I personally subscribe to help out the creators that I appreciate. Just my opinion and $0.02.

Silly question but must ask: when I pull my trail elbow down should it touch the side of my chest (under the arm pit) or should it touch the front of my chest? Not sure if it makes a difference, but asking. Thanks!!

I have a larger chest (years of pushups and bench press) and always wonder the same thing. No Coach has been able to answer this. With what this drill seems to show the question may not matter as he shows external shoulder rotation on way up and internal shoulder rotation on way down (meaning side of chest??) I am hoping he responds and clarifies this. I am not a coach, just an observation on the drill because this is one thing I am working on right now in my swing.

I just noticed it in some slow motion video of my swing and I've been struggling with over cutting and losing power. Times where I have seen straighter flights and increased distance, i'm pulling it or it feels like my hands are beating my lower half. If that makes sense, it seems to be related.

Question…you suggested she get a big shoulder turn with left shoulder behind ball before bending right arm..at that point wouldn’t club shaft be pointing behind her?
@Golf-Ed
@Golf-Ed Ай бұрын
I'm trying to get her to take the club back with no compensations. So at setup the club is in front of her chest, if everything stays the same, it's still in front of her chest halfway back. By collapsing early, and taking the club back with hands and arms, she was making the swing more complicated (too many moving parts) and less powerful (not using the big muscles).

I've done this for 20 years. I practice lining up every bone and muscle with the intended line. Take the putter back slowly keeping everything in alignment. Then a complete and full follow through, holding the release while the ball flows to the hole. You won't always read every putt correctly. But, by eliminating inconsistency in the movement of the putter you will eliminate many 3 putt finishes.
@Golf-Ed
@Golf-Ed 2 ай бұрын
Well said! People have told me in lessons, "but it takes extra time to line up..." My response: quicker than that 3rd putt

You can still slice that ball even with that swing path. An open face would cause the ball either to fire straight left on that swing path or if caught later in the swing, put the spin required to send it into a slice on the ball. This information is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
@1234jbernard
@1234jbernard 2 ай бұрын
An open face would cause a ball to start left? Wow how can you be this dumb and still be breathing? Go hit balls on a trackman with an open face and tell us how many balls start left.
@Golf-Ed
@Golf-Ed 2 ай бұрын
Interesting.... You're saying if you hit the ball on a down the line, or slightly from the inside path, with an open face (pointing right of the target), the ball would go left. 🤔
@eyMoss
@eyMoss 2 ай бұрын
@@Golf-Ed A slice is just a shot shape, and yes, even on inside to out path, you can slice the ball. The path alone does not fix the problem. Like many of these types of videos, you address one part of the correction and illustrate it as a 'fix'. Swings arent generic, theyre personal.

If you want consistency you gotta take the hands and arms out of the equation, this is a good demonstration of keeping the hands in front of the chest at all times. However it only works if you can rotate properly which a lot of people can't or don't even know what a proper turn/stacking feels like.
@Golf-Ed
@Golf-Ed 4 ай бұрын
Well said....I have some other videos about the proper turn and will have more coming soon. Everyone has physical limitations and attributes. The trick, and what I try to help with, is learning how to work with each and creating the most repeatable powerful swing for the individual.

The arrogance of some golfers teaching that their way is the only way you better not have this conversation with Tom Watson I think Tom Watson is his day could whip your ass and his take away is almost exactly what you’re saying not to do.
@Golf-Ed
@Golf-Ed 4 ай бұрын
In case you haven't noticed, the golf swing has evolved in the last 50 years. In fact, if you look at Tom Watson's swing today he takes it back exactly as I demonstrate here. If he were to take it away as he did in the 70s and 80s, his distance and accuracy would be compromised. In addition, your rationale would eliminate all teaching. No golf instructor should have a philosophy whatsoever, according to your comment. With the changes that have come about with all equipment over the last 50 years, the swing has necessitated a change. Trackman and other radar technology as well as advancements and biomechanics make the swing more powerful and repeatable.
