WOW! amazing restomod! lots of things to like, but using the 90-91 front grill is a good one, since it looks meaner, has the recessed and blacked out headlight surrond and has TOYOTA.

My parents were the original owners of a ‘91 SR5 4WD 5-speed. I inherited it when I went to college but sadly the rust killed it. This is such a cool build. Nice work.

Can you make a video of your adapter harness for a 2rz swap. I have a complete 1997 donor Tacoma with 2 coil packs. The truck I want to put it in is a 1994 22re with a w56 5-speed manual. I do want to keep the ac as it is a daily vehicle.

What transmission options do you have with the 4.0 v6?
@Off-Road-Solutions4 ай бұрын
The best option will be the A750 Auto Transmission or the 6-speed (RA61) Manual transmission, which came behind this engine. It is normally simplest to also use the transmission from the donor vehicle. Most donor vehicles have a transfer case w/ a LH-Front-Output. If your vehicle needs a RH-front-output, a good option may be an Adapter to the Toyota RF1A Gear-drive transfer case, such as the adapter sold by Marlin Crawler. Thanks for watching!

Will this modification work on a 97 m/t 4x4 ECU? I have a 1997 harness
@Off-Road-Solutions7 ай бұрын
The 1997 M/T ECU has an entirely different set of ECU connectors, and does not apply to this video. If your '97 harness was from the same application as the M/T ECU, you do not need to do this mod, your parts are ready to go. If you '97 harness is from an A/T application, you can do this mod to fit an M/T ECU - but a different ECU would be required at this point, see the ECU list referenced in the video. Hope this helps!

So happy for Mike and where he's ended up. I doubt he misses the dealership! I know I don't, I finally got out last year after having been with Toyota and Lexus 25 years. Thought about opening my own shop, as there are no Independent Toyota/Lexus shops at all where I now live, but I doubt I could pull it off so it will be just a hobby now.

Sweet! Gotta love Moab. I finally made it back there after an 11 year hiatus for Cruise Moab 2022. Ol Marlin was there too. R.I.P. I will always be thankful for all the help Mike and Marlin have given me and all their customers since 2001. My friends and I were also grateful to be included when helping move the ORS shop back in the early days!

Man would I love to do this to a complete rebuild on a 3.4 for my 2002 Tacoma X-cab, but I can't imagine the costs of just the add-on parts. If I knew these parts were going on it I would completely re-imagine the parts I'd use for connecting rods, pistons, rings, bearings, valves, roller rockers and lifters. I'm at 181k on mine and I lucked out finding my truck, as it was single owner and garage kept, with a new frame. The interior is mint, and right now everything works, and works well. Doing the timing belt, water pump, idler, and tensioner pulley was a task foreign to me coming from GMC, Ford, and Dodge/Ram, but the last tag from Toyota on the timing belt cover said 79,811, so I knew I was due at 180k. I'd love to see a video walk-through that covered the build. I was able to pull off the timing belt swap with the help of another KZfaqr's in-depth instructional video. The nice thing about this video is that they did not assume some laughable character, there was no unnecessary hand waiving, they did not waste time with dad jokes, they did not allow family pets to become a distraction, they did not drift into likes and dislikes of (name the topic), they had great camera angles, they had good lighting, they provided procedure cautions and warnings, and most importantly they did the swap with the block in the truck without removing the radiator. This is the gold standard of how a how-to should be constructed. I'm not a great teacher, but the testament to good instruction is success by the student. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pp1_hNdz2LWXeYE.html.

P.s. A key to their success is one person is doing the work, while the other is taking the video and providing narration. I know people are trying to help, but when you film your own instructional videos you are unintentionally your own worst enemy.

Might as well put the heater hose on the back of the engine. They are a pain to get to once the engine is installed without removing the intake.
@thebassclef0074 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Removing the supercharger/intake plenum is about the only way to get to those hoses on a 5VZ once it’s in the truck.
