Don‘t do it, as it will destroy the tracks, takes the dynamic and make it sound flat!!!! Maybe good to master a DJ set, but don’t use it for your tracks.

So then what is your solution? I agree it will lose dynamics (as your essentially compressing everything) But if your looking for a quick way to get all songs close to same relative volume this is a great fast solution If you use the trim knob during your entire set to adjust volume for each song that’s fine: but telling people not to do it isn’t actually fair without giving them another resolution People are watching this video to see how to get their songs close to the same volume (this is ONE way to do it) Another way to is use trim knob during your to get all songs close to same volume So again - please comment YOUR solution so we can get another perspective - best idea wins 💡

Did you talk about how you actually do that ? Lol like i have 4000 songs alresdy in RK, how do you upload these and reload new PT version?

Put all in platinum notes (app by mixed in key) and set the output volume Export all songs and the final result will have a _PN in the new song name folder Those songs exported through platinum notes should all have a close gain / level (this will help your set sound more balanced) and will also help you avoid using the trim knob to adjust track volume for every song

If you’re using platinum notes 10 on older digital files, then it will work out, but if you get tracks from Beatport, they are mastered so loud that if you play in any sort of real club, anything you ran through platinum notes is going to sound like it’s muted compared to every other DJ on the lineup. They even added a template to address this, and it doesn’t do a very good job. If you’re making a mix at home or in a studio and then plan on mastering it up, I could see using platinum notes as well, but in a live situation no way in hell.

Here’s my view on it: I show up with all songs run through Platinum Notes and they each have an average volume of -6 lufs On my pioneer CDJ 3000s I use the trim to get it as loud as possible - then the rest of the night I don’t have to touch any dials No need to turn up master or trim Front of house will set the master house level but I have done everything on my end to get it as loud as possible and each song close to the same exact volume as possible

Oh, I get it, I quite literally tried to do the same thing for years, cause I was under the exact same school of thought as you. But literally every time I would tag with my friends in any sort of sound system that was meant to host more than two, 300 people, or even 50 to 100 people it was just extremely obvious. You seem like you would know why a lot more than I would, I just trust my ears and the nasty looks. People tagging with me gave :-) the trim/gay knob just didn’t make up for what platinum notes took away. But hey, all of this is subjectiveas far as taste. Appreciate the info.

@@upstarterhmmm I wanna get to the bottom of this Your saying just use the loudest masters from beat port? When you perform your tracks what level do you let the meter sit on? (Green is up to 0 orange is to +6 or +9 I think and red is +12) Theoretically where should all of our tracks be when performing? 0 db on the fader channel?

Everyone has to learn somewhere - I remember when I was that clown when I first started surfing. I’m sure you were that clown too at one point in some form or fashion. No one is perfect. … Teach a human respect and surfing etiquette and they will share the knowledge and become better in time. 🤙
