The Comanche is bassy and sorta makes everything sound equal, while the normal start pickups are trebly and and certain tones can go over others which isn't a bad thing it's just a different sound

That Comanche is great but doesn’t quit have the quack that the other 2 have on the 2 & 4 positions. Thinking dire straits sounds. Thank you for such an in depth review.

Oh. I almost forgot to ask. Does the EVH gyutar have EVO frets and if so what do you think of them?
@nick_reiner2 ай бұрын
No, just the standard frets that come on the EVH Wolfgang Specials. Never played EVO frets but I have played the stainless steel on a USA Wolfgang and really liked those!
@hoosierdaddy23082 ай бұрын
@@nick_reiner Thanks brother. Yeah, I played stainless on an Ibanez and really liked them, so I am building a Strat now. Mexican body with two EMGs. ,85 b and 60 n and a new Warmoth maple neck and fretboard with huge jumbo stainless frets. Staggered tuners and graphite nut and all steel six point bridge so I can do a little trem work. Can't wait to get it put together. Wiring up the pickups in the pickguards tonight, then connecting to the body tomorrow or next day and then adding the neck and doing the set up. Love stainless frets and if possible it or EVOs will be all I use from now on. I also tried them and they are great too and no nickel in case you have allergies to the same which some do I guess. EVOs aren't as hard as stainless but better than standard frets and easier to work with I understand. Thanks for the reply kind sir..

Actually the first tone control is the treble cut, the second is the bass cut. I own a Legacy and several Strats so I’m pretty familiar with them. The PTB seems to work best on higher output pickups. The Strat was my favorite followed by the Legacy and Comanche. I’m curious as to why you didn’t use an American Strat-the Pro II offers the neck/bridge combo as well as all three pickups. Nice demo, great playing and a great recording too.
@nick_reiner2 ай бұрын
Ah man, how embarrassing I listed the PTB backwards…in my mind, I was thinking of it backwards - “passive bass” as adjusting the amount of bass that you hear, rather than it being a treble cut and same with “passive treble” amount of treble heard. I would have loved to do the demo with an American Strat but I was just working with what I actually own. Appreciate the feedback, thanks for watching 🙂

Perhaps the best comparison demo I've ever heard 💪 & I have seen hundreds 😳 I liked the Commanche & Fender equally, just different. Love the Fender single coils, but also that full tone & switch options on Commanche
@nick_reiner2 ай бұрын
@@BoltRM Appreciate that! I watch a lot of comparison videos too and took mental notes of what I would do if I ever made one. I ended up keeping the Strat and Comanche, although the Legacy is still a killer guitar!
@ulmestrat2 ай бұрын
Legacy for sure ! I don't like the ceramic magnets ( i can hear the difference clearly ).
@iridios61272 ай бұрын
It's not a magnet - it's a pickup design.😉
@ulmestrat2 ай бұрын
@@iridios6127 Please don't explain me, i know all about it ! The magnets are different and they influence the sound, ask G&L ! I'm a guitarbuilder and pickup manufacturer - believe me.
Curious what your settings are on the PTB system. Are you compensating the commanche to make it sound more strat like? Is the fenders tone at 10? Is the Treble and bass both at 10? Well i see you tweak it near the end at least.
@nick_reiner2 ай бұрын
No compensation, tone controls were at 100% on all three up until I did the close-up demos of the tone control range.
