Funny how the more things change the more they stay the same. I've basically retired from Yu-Gi-Oh; been like a year or so. Found I couldn't enjoy attending my LGS, frankly, because the game made me leave feeling like shit. Even three rounds was brutally exhausting and I would stew over every misplay the entire way home. Anywho, a few of us decided to switch over to 4-player MTG (Commander, and don't get me wrong, there are problems, and WotC is almost worse than Konami imo). I can honestly say I leave the LGS thrilled with the game, win or lose. They've been fun. So, I'm pondering: where was the disconnect with Yu-Gi-Oh? What could be done for those of us who are, frankly, exhausted? 1) Alternate Formats I'm thrilled to see such interest in Edison. Honestly, I hope Edison will surpass Modern Competitive in popularity to force Konami to rethink their practices. Would personally love to see a multi-player version of trinity. And, for record MTG commander was started by the MTG community, so this can come from bottom up as from top down. 2) Multi-player Casual I know I just said it, but hear me out, I think the reason why MTG's biggest format is commander is because it is (4) player free for all. You literally cannot play optimally in a (4) player game unless you want everyone else to team up on you. Instead, a "soft", "wishy washy" feel of optimal playing is best. As such, there aren't hard misplays like in Yu-Gi-Oh; instead, you play a game of politics, using each other to win a game. I think there is a reason pretty much every board game is for 4-8 players with a million house rules to fit. 3) Variance I could get the same amount of joy from performing a Yu-Gi-Oh combo out of finishing the same wordsearch 20 times in a row. I think there is a reason Lightsworn is so beloved.I've played (2) decks since 2019 for more than a week or two. Paleofrogs (link era, then with numeron) and Adamancipator (shit ton of variants), simply because they do some very unique things. Every other deck has felt tremendously samey. Personally, Adamancipator is the only modern deck I still have built, exactly because of the excavation (though I do have TOSS paleo, and a few other Time Wizard decks built) 4) Eliminate OTKs, eliminate "every turn" spell speed 2 interaction, and promote spell speed 1 interaction. Sandbagging a turn should be possible. Easiest way to do that is set starting LP to a greater value. 5) Artist Names MTG puts their artist's names on every card. No excuse Konami. 6) Lore and Flavor There are endless stories in Yu-Gi-Oh that could be animated, and they give us "card games on ______". Look, I'm just saying, if they could get the Demon Slayer team to animate the World Legacy storyline, they'd have my attention. Big point, if you feel even remotely distressed about Yu-Gi-Oh. Stop, talk to your friends, try something new. It isn't worth it. Rant over, if you made it this far, thank you for listening!

Ban Puppet and Ra's Disciple the reason its broken is because its a lingering lock. If it was Ido you can get it off the board and your fine, you know the Deck with 2 - 4 Card Combos if you dont draw Aluber or BF shouldnt be hit too hard it actually takes skill.

Banning sanctifier should've happened when they banned expulsion. Hot red also should've been banned long ago. Flamburg sounds like a good hit. Ip and appo and shifter should be hit too imo Playing old decks is great, i don't completely agree with trying to move on to new decks

9:06 to put this in perspective, 3 thunder in the end of toss was so low in representation there were better decks in the "other" category and they've not had a card since. doubtful it will ever be strong on it's own again

Banning Sanctifire is a slap on the wrist. The deck won't dead and they pre banned cards before like tempest magician, level eater and utopic zexal(with it new supports)

I hope they put skill drain back in limited like it was in 2015 atleast. Its such an ass card that any deck with big guys it can stick abuse. Please nuke sanctifire its just branded expulsion 2

I took all holos cards out my deck to put in a binder when I got back into it with my kids as I got commons of those cards. No need to play with cards worth money when I can use the cheap ones.
