no wonder i had no clue what was going on as a kid. i remember playing this game multiple times and it still not making sense at all. now i know that it is the most convoluted prequel to a game i never even played

The worst thing about this game is not actually the cards but the stupid rooms you walk around in and that there are no new worlds

I played all the way to the first fight with the motherfucker vexen I grinded 5 hours for good enough cards and by the looks of it I probably need another 15 more hiurs

This game is one of gaming’s biggest bullshit moves. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to follow up a console game with a handheld GBA game and make it integral to understand KH2. I like many others skipped this game because the jump from 3D ps2 to GBA was too drastic, and as a result were confused as hell when KH2 came around.

I'd replay the GBA version cause it's really good but my GBA is broken and I don't really wanna play the PS one as I've heard that it's pretty disappointing

The way it seems is that the Country of Musketeers was the middle-timeline version of Timeless River, with it morphing into Disneytown/Disney Castle by the time of Birth By Sleep. His marriage to then-Princess Minnie seems to be what made him King, as she probably became Queen Regnant and made him her King Consort. (Often Queens Regnant take on a Prince Consort- like Prince Albert- so their own authority isn't overrun by patriarchal societies, but Minnie probably trusted Mickey and their subjects to not consider him King OVER her.)

I tried so hard to play the game and just couldn't. First time playing kingdom hearts by the collection. You would think they would just simply remake the game from the grounds up when remastering the games The story seems good, but I'm sure I missed a lot of journey and story by not playing

It's a great game, easily one of my favorites in the series, but I was tired of having to play 3 times in a row, still, I'll try to finish it, great job with the video :D

After playing (and absolutely loving) the first one the gameplay just absolutely lost me, after a good hour or so of gameplay i just couldnt take it and quit

Just beat kingdom hearts 1 and started playing this game. It's such trash that I came here to know the story.

So I actually did finish this game, despite the card system being really bad but I got used to it and beat Sora and Riku’s story. And like yeah the card system was really bad, but icl, it was very fun to just demolish fights with Lethal Frame. And I am only here because I took like a while to start KH2 and I forgot what happened So yeah no real point

Coded actually turned out to be very important and actually very consistent with KH2. It setups Malificent, Book of Prophecies, Birth By Sleep, Dream Drop Distance and 358/2 Days. Everything Data-Sora thinks and feels so does Sora. How do I know despite the gsme not saying so? KH2 Data-Hayner and Gang. Shame everyone lied about the story being "simple" so they gaslighted themselves when any minor plot reveal happened making it out as a "retcon" when really it jus t reveals the never once tried to look at the story as it's actually being told. I still see 90% people say "Oh in KH1 you're just sealing Keyholes it's simple really" when that's not even close to the truth. "Oh I'll just skip Mysterious Figure in KH1 since it wasn't in the original" Then the Boss Battle to be shown in Vanilla KH2 making it very canon and important to your understanding of the story. My opinion is KH1 was more complex then people want to admit so they gaslight themselves into stupid story discussions

I remember getting this game for Christmas when I wad a kid and being HYPE. The card system was really hard for me as a kid and I could never get past one of the riku boss battles, I forget which one, and gave up. Luckily I ran across the chain of memories manga right before KH2 came out!

I started watching all these videos because I love the franchise but am way too confused by the story. Great job on this video, even 8 years later. Also, at 7:17, the best character in the entire franchise was born

You'll be glad to know, this video is still helping people after all these years. I'm doing a KH marathon and got about halfway through Sora's story before getting completely fed up with the awful card combat. On to 358/2 Days!

I feel bad caus I wanted to play em all, having bought the mix, I sunk nearly 10 hours to re: chain, but Jesus man that card sistem is tedious, not horrible like a lot of people say. It's just a step down from KH1 combatwise

The amount of people in here that can't count to a minimum of 10 is nuts.

Thanks for this, I started Re:Chain of Memories straight after KH1 and I jsut couldn't get into it, left it for another day and tried it agian and still the same. It just wasn't meant to be played on a big screen. It expects you to look at 4 different parts of the screen at the same time
