The electrostatic charge is added to the paint through a process called ionization. In an electrostatic spray gun, a high voltage is applied to the paint just before it's sprayed out. This high voltage causes the individual paint particles to gain or lose electrons, thus becoming negatively charged ions. The object that is being painted is grounded. This essentially means it is given a neutral charge. As the negatively charged paint particles leave the electrostatic spray gun, they are attracted to the grounded part. @@GracoIndustrial easy. All I did was change the rollers and put new gaskets in and cleaned it up. The sand from blasting got in the quick connect got in it. It didn’t make it to the motor though. It worked for 14 years after that. Of course we had tough stacks on hand to redo the bottom end.
