You can't compare because the angle for the sound wave is totally different. This is bunkum.

Wonderful video! Many thanks! The retracting of the Jet Bridge, awesome, rarely gets posted. Also that the ground had that light "Movie" wetness to it, added greatly to your video. You picked a great day/time of day. The aircraft may be 25 years and change old, but those Mighty Pratts look relatively new/fresh. And for those Geeks out there: From spool up to rotation: 45:45 seconds. I like to time take-offs off different types of planes, and I have found 45 seconds to be average from spool up to take off. Some have been a tad over 40 seconds and some as late as 50 seconds. Thanks for the great upload! Love those clouds and clouds layer as well. Beautiful time of the day!

and I bet they had people complaining about returning to the airport. What, do you wanna risk flying with one less engine?

When I got interested in the engines, I was partial to the RR Trent engines. Somehow RR manages to make engines where the high pitched tone matches in octave with the low pitched tone. On the Trent 9000 on the 380, the spooling up sounds like music. But I noticed that the GE engines on the 787 do almost the same, the only difference with the Trents is that they don't produce the matching octave.

I like the P&W from de 747.. the Lord of the Skies. I have a question.. why does every engine sound turn into some kind of loud buzz few time after takoff ? I have noticed that last time I traveled (Trent XWB of a Franch Bee A350-1000) but never before.. I think it's because it's been a long time since I sat right next to the engine..

That loud buzz corresponds to the moment the engine thrust is reduced. After take off, when the airplane is safely in the air, there is no need to keep as much thrust as the greater the thrust, the greater the engine wear and maintenance costs. It helps reduce noise on the ground as well, particularly useful in noise sensitive and densely populated areas.

First time boarding a Jumbo was one of those memories that are so vivid, as a child they let me visit the cockpit and stay a couple of minutes with the pilots, Singapore Airlines, back then in the early 80s , the whole craft stood out while docked at the gate, the huge wide body, the four engines themselves were immense probably as big as a hatchback! Entering the plane and once in the galley facing the length of the plane you couldn't see the end of it... Once in movement one could realise just how heavy it really is, take off and flight comfort was something unseen before whilst sharing the environment with almost 500 other souls. Cockpit was as big as a Chevy Van, flight engineer had an infinity of knobs and buttons dials and who knows what else, glimpsing on towards the pilots seats was another spectacle. We were flying into the dawning Southeast Asia, I'll never forget that view and the nonchalance and extreme professionality the crew demonstrated with pride, yes it was that "superbird" that made many dream of flying and becoming a pilot. I miss this aircraft but I guess commercial aviation has evolved conveniently yes and as always in life convenience does come with a sacrifice of some kind, 747 in this case is a victim of the new trend even though the A380 came 40/50 years later it still in my opinion could not stand pair. Thanks for the upload! Let's hope in a come back! Cheers
