Thank you for this video! I've watched many videos tonight and yours was the only one that explained WHY - what needs to happen under the different circumstances. I'm trying the one that seems to fit mine tomorrow and see if I can get my pool clear finally.

Saved me money was looking up pumps and decided to check you tive for a second time by looking up the humming nose. I had a different pump with a fan but just turn the fan and clean around and it worked five minutes later. Faster to fix then watching the video.

What if your salt levels are good but the inspect cell is solid yellow and check salt is solid red ? Is it time for a new salt cell?
@abovegroundpros
@abovegroundpros 20 күн бұрын
It could be your salt level is low, or your salt cell is gunked up and needs a acid wash, or the salt cell has gone bad. I would do the acid wash first then have your cell tested if that does not work

I was able to turn the shaft just fine… my motor is just humming as well. I think it tried to turn on this morning because I have it on a timer. The motor was super hot shut it off for a couple of hours. Doesn’t smell like burnt or anything. But it didn’t work for me. Any other suggestions??!

I do not regularly use Magic Lube II, but I often use Magic Lube, which is a Teflon based lubricant and absolutely do not do that with original magic lube, it will cause the threads to catch and jerk as you unthread it. If you do get sloppy with the original magic lube a rag with some WD-40 will remove it very effectively.

Hi there - wanted to just add a quick comment - this fix saved me.....temporarily but at the end of the day it turned out it was my capacitor that was the problem. I unfortunately was not able to diagnose this myself and paid way too much to have it fixed but you can get a replacement capacitor for about $13 on amazon and it's pretty much like changing a battery. There are also videos out there on how to do it. Just flagging in case someone else finds this fix works but doesn't fix it completely. If I knew it would have saved me a lot of money. The pool store people charged me $60 for the part and $90 for the labor. I get they have to make money so I'm not shaming but if you are eager to save money it can easily be DIY. Apparently extreme heat can cause capacitors to blow pretty easily.

The diagram you use as the cover for the video shows the wall foam behind the foam cove. Is this the preferred configuration? The foam cove in this case is therefore adhered to the wall foam and not the pool wall itself. Would it be acceptable to install by first installing the floor pad, then the cove (over the floor pad and adhered to the pool wall, and then finally the wall foam, allowing it to drape down on top of the foam cove? Two disadvantages I can imagine with this approach are that it might make installation of the wall foam more challenging and the bottom edge of the wall foam might end up in the middle of the sloped surface of the cove, making a less clean looking installation.

You hope this helps out? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! My only quibble is with the statement that salt systems don't raise pH levels. As an owner of one, I can emphatically say that they absolutely do raise pH levels. You definitely have to regularly add dry acid or muriatic acid to bring pH levels down.

Instead of putting pliers on the plastic threads. Look inside you will see two slots. Those are used for tightening and loosening the inside piece.

For some reason I thought this was recent, never bother to look at dates. Anyway, this is the idea my wife saw on Pinterest and was telling me about on our upcoming pool install, no no no... you can't do that.. We'll I was completely wrong and glad I am. Our deck is 6 inches higher than the pool will be so this is a perfect idea to blend the two. Also, this guy is a born teacher, I agree with the others he should be teaching all forms of math. Very impressed.

Hey Chad, I know this is almost a decade old, but here's the skinny... We are dropping our 24' round AGP maybe at the most 2.5' into the southern Ohio clay/Pennsylvanian clay. Aside from that, we have the 73" exp liner, and are installing all hard-lined plumbing with main drain in the deep center (2' ledge all the way around then itll slope down to a 4' flat in the center). Making it a more permanent fixture and staying clear of $50K pool we will end up seling with the land in the fufture. My main concerns, and Ill also email this to you if I can, telegram or smoke signals, et... 1. pump placement and its level in relation to the dropped pool, will it have to be dropped too,, I mean as far as the pool is? 2. will the sand be workable on a slope like this or is there a different approach here? 3. will I need to install at least a french drain around the rear of the hole for drdainage, and would a product like a metallic mobile home roof sealant be of any use to prolong use or prevent rust issuse (painting the lower portions of the pool with it that will be buried?)?Thanks Scott
