Wow, what a cool historic document of this wonderful concert from Midem in 1989! So many of these artists have passed nice to have this look into the past! Thank you Ben for documenting musical history!

ok this might take a minute.. when i was a kid, richie and a couple other guys in buddy rich's band stayed at our house for a few days. 3152 s. deleware ave. milw. wi. my pop worked for buddy in 71' richie and my dad (george pritchett) became friends while working for rich. looking back, i find it funny how the old square neighbors were aghast when they saw richie and a coupla' other longhairs get out of a vw bus in our quiet little neighborhood.

Good one, I put it in a playlist. I found many of your tracks from way back on the @Musikladen1972 channel here. Great stuff!

Just finally saw him live in Ronnie Scott's tonight, after 30 years of listening to his records, his unique singing voice and voicing just as engaging as ever. A legend.

I wonder if Dannie went to The Loft while in town. Ain't no place better to boogie than The Loft.
I heard Ben play this song before it was released at my school the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1984.

Ray Brown is the star of the show here. Also nice to hear Al Haig, who seemed to disappear early in his career, but as seen here, didn’t.

This is a terrific interview with a helpful historical perspective on the music and artists involved - thank you. Dannie Richmond with Don Pullen on "Breakthrough" and "Song Everlasting" is just incredible.

McCoy's comments are a good example of what sets jazz musicians apart from pop musicians who try to recreate their recorded versions on stage.
