I have a Squier Classic Vibe Tele which I keep in open G (with a low D) mainly for Keith Richards moments and for slide playing. However, I hadn't thought about using it for playing other Blues tunes so this was really helpful. I also have a Danelectro 56-U2 which I keep in open D for slide playing. Definitely need to experiment more.

I prefer DADFAD, which is minor D open tuning, sounds dark and sometimes creepy, just like Clint Eastwood would like when his Man Without Name kills one more bad guy.

Not open G but great sounds. May not sound as good in a Squier though. That is a sexy telecaster
@maypapa5605 ай бұрын
That's same tuning I've been playing for 30 years. Leaving 6th string on E is the point. And a lot of players think Open G is good for adding sus4 like keith Richards but actually it's good for playing 7th chords

If your gonna play and teach in a modified G tuning, You should at least tell your viewers what standard G tuning is cause theyll have to go somewhere else to find it or they might get used to your E/G Tuning and think theyre playing in standard G tuning. Is it supose to go way up to a G? I cant remember so I will have to go somewhere else but Ill stick around and watch to the end

@richiebricker A bit pedantic and condescending don't you think? It's not like you have to pay for Joey's lesson in order to watch it. He owes you nothing and yet you want to bitch at him, looking down your nose at him like he has disappointed you and he should have done better? It's a KZfaq video where he shared some tricks with you. He could have just as easily said, "Hey, this is in open G and if you don't know what that is or what the difference is between open G and standard tuning then you probably aren't advanced enough to play what I'm about to show you anyway, so until you go learn some guitar theory and shit your probably just wasting your time here watching my video". But Joey didn't do that, did he? He actually took some time to explain what he was doing and maybe make it easier for you to see how to learn some of his techniques. Why? Because Joey seems like a pretty nice guy, not a pretentious ego-filled prick. Oh, speaking of you- can you play as good as Joey? I bet you can't, just a guess. Want to know what else I think is a good guess? Probably not, but I bet at this point you can make a good guess about the probability of me telling you anyway. I think you are ENVIOUS OF JOEY AND THAT'S WHY YOU TRIED TO FIND A BULLSHIT REASON TO PUT HIM DOWN. That's what I think.
