You pronounced it very well! Cwm-yoi. The Welsh name is Cwm Iau (Cwm Y-eye) - Cwmyoy is an Anglisication. 'Iau' in English means Thursday or Jupiter.

is it just me or does this bothy need to be really cleaned? I mean really cleaned. At 26:15 there's a huge spider web stuck to your hat. and about the mice: this is exactly why I want to train my cat to camp with me. Seriously.

It could use a scrub, that's for sure. There's a brush for sweeping and I swept the floor before I left but there's nothing there to actually clean with. If I visit it again, I'll leave a couple of sponges and a bottle of washing up liquid. It would have been nice to wash the table and windowsill before I left. No evidence of any mice luckily.

In many ways a very typical Welsh church- small, plain, stone etc. But it’s also a tribute to medieval building methods. Extraordinary it’s still standing

Hello mate. I was here last week. I did a circular walk, 12 from the car park and back. I'm out again Friday doing the Welsh 3 peaks. You must be due out again, all it's already in bank. Where are you going next?
@GazingMonkey
@GazingMonkey 2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure where I'm going next. I'm back in full-time work it's harder to find the time to make videos and the weather's unpredictable which doesn't help. I want to climb Cadair Idris again soon, I was there a few years ago and I think it'd make a nice video. It's my favourite of the 3 peaks but then I've never I've never had a view from the top of Snowdon, I've always been clouded in. I plan to stay in the Moel Prysgau bothy and make a video of that but it's best to do that on a weeknight so I 'd have to take a couple of days off work, it's a long way from anywhere so I'd need a free day each side I reckon. I recently shot a video walking around Cardiff bay but realised halfway round that it wouldn't be worth watching, I think I'll need to research more things to look at and talk about and try shooting it again some time. Are you doing the 3 peaks competitively or just casual hiking ?
@JamieHarding5
@JamieHarding5 2 ай бұрын
@@GazingMonkey I understand, mid week is best. Should be quiet then. It looks a good bothy too. I know I'll prefer Cadair Idris. Done Pen y Fan and Snowdon many times. They are just too busy. I'm doing it just for fun, for myself. I hit over 30k steps many times. Did Ben Nevis in Oct, at the end of the day I was on 39k. I would like to reach 40+ steps, I make a 10-15 minute video of it. I probably do a separate one of the camp or bothy stay there. It's a tiny one like Grwyne Fawr. I went back there and stayed the night😁 Some of the places I've been you could do a better video, you explain things well. The crash site from the 1940s and the photo found 2005, Canadian family flew over. I'd like to see you do something on Aberystwyth one day, the University there King Charles and William went there, lots history, the old tram goes up the hill, very near there you Devils Brigde and another 5-10 drive from there Nant Syddion. If you haven't had chance to look at it, have a look one day, the cemetery is very near. If you are looking at places to go and ideas the Wye explorer is a very good channel. Jump on other channels too say hello, nice video. People will look at your channel then also. Keep having fun. I hope you get chance to go out again soon. I'm hoping to make enough videos over the weekend to last me a couple of months. I put one up every 2 weeks now. Shorts have been handy for me picking up a few subs.

I really like the shots of the drive up to these buildings. Most videos just show the grounds of these old churches but I really like seeing what the countryside and villages look like also. Im from a small community in the US and our countryside is beautiful but we have mostly barbed-wire fencing, pole barns and the occasional abandoned homestead; nothing like old stone villages and walls... and that hilly landscape is just stunning to me.

I nearly reported this post for reasons of HEALTH AND SAFETY. To be positive it was a delight to see these lovely churches on the Marches. They are a credit to the small communities which keep them in such good order and they need to be treated with respect. In both churches you failed to do this by interfering with the bells and pulling the ropes. I am sure if a stranger invaded you home and did such a thing you would not be happy. You might have caused damage to the rope, the bell, ringing mechanism or the structure. These are expensive items to repair. More serious, showing yourself doing this, might encourage others to do the same. Anyone familiar with church bells knows that tampering with them can be dangerous, especially if bell are ‘set’. This means they are facing upwards and if the rope is pulled, the bell swings down along with its rope, which can entangle a person’s limb or neck and then lift them up bodily! This can cause serious injury or death. See the link: www.poyntonbells.net/miscellaneous/health-safety/ It would be helpful if the ringing could be removed and not repeated in future visits.

Maybe the second chapel with the grill window and predieu was a Hermitage or Anchorite chapel they would have not have had a glazed window originally heard the same service as the congregation and recieved the communion through the grill.
