Please Show more of the physical planner instead of your head so close to the camera... Most ADHD are visual...if I can't see it, then it doesn't exist..."Out of Sight, Out of Mind".... Therefore I'd love to actually see what your working with...thanks

I just found this video & I actually fit in all of your numbered must haves! I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult & it’s a daily struggle even on medication. I can follow all of your suggestions & I’ve always been a color coder but my ADHD takes my brain a step further-how to pick what color for what or for who! I don’t work but I do have doctors appts -I’m a cancer survivor & suffer from 3 autoimmune diseases. I do have grandchildren that I’ve tried color coding for things like their games or extra curricular activities. Do you have any suggestions on how to do to pick the colors for the coding-I have the pens it’s just what colors for who or what activity!

I have ADHD. I’m pretty incapable of planning anything tbh. Physical, digital, doesn’t matter. If I put it down or close the app, it doesn’t exist anymore. I’ll have one important thing to do that day, write it on the back of my hand and hope I see it and do the task before I wash my hands. I hate ADHD. I can’t DO anything.

Hi! I use a phone calendar plus a paper planner. I started using a happy planner dashboard layout this year for the first time. It’s the only thing that’s ever worked. But I’m adding a separate vertical planner for my artwork for next year so I can create specific goals for that. I’m not a colour coder and I tried stickers but they drove me mad, so I stopped using them. 👍🏻

I literally felt everything you said except the color coding i dont color code that much but i absolutely love having like a different color for crossing out things after i complete them so satisfying i dont really have a diagnosed adhd but i feel like the videos that are about tricks to deal with it makes it easier to get things done , every time i searched about planners digital planning came up you it felt so relieving that i wasnt the only one experiencing this i was really happy i found someone i can relate to, the people in the comment section are so amazing talking about things they tried everyone is so kind so wholesome , was such a great video really helpful thank you edit: i actually like the bindings at least in my daily todo small notebook will put it in mind while making the weekly + monthly planner thanks again !

A year later but… very informative thought-provoking video. Really made me re-think uncomfortable thoughts regarding my planner, especially the size. I’m always trying to carry the most streamlined planner but it stresses me out! What I really need is a letter size planner, not half letter, personal and certainly not pocket size, which I try to carry the most (pocket). White space bothers some but for me, I need it. If it’s too cramped it looks scattered and messy and I don’t want the strain of figuring wait, what’s next? Thoroughly enjoyed your view points. TFS

I tried bullet journaling and realized that I don't have patience of creating the weekly layout for every week. So I went back to printed planners. Personally for me the right fit was disc bound planner. I can switch things around every month if I so like. I can add things there in the middle of the year If I need that and I can modify it with different extensions that there are. I can also switch layouts easily. I have downsized the decorating a lot, though I still like to do some of that. But while it was what got me interested with planners again, it's not main component for me anymore. My week is not ruined if I have not decorated my weekly spread. I really love the disc bound system also because I can take the pages out from the planner when I'm writing on them and then put them back in. When I was introduced disc bound planners first I thought that those would be really weak. For my surprise I like them much better than the spiral bound ones. That said, I also carry my planner in fabric pouch to protect the covers that seem to be the weakest point in that planner (the corners starts to wear pretty quickly). But I combine that with my calendar in my phone. That is where all my appointments go too in color coded also. That way every time I check my phone I'm reminded from what is going to happen today or tomorrow. I have found out that it will help me keep up with my appointments. I still try to figure out how I'm going to add my school stuff in there without too much work.

You mentioned two ends of the spectrum colour code or black and white? What do you mean by this? I ask because I love greyscale photos, and when planning, colours kind of put me off. So I'm wondering if there is another method of coding that I am missing? Thank you

When you shared that you don’t like your handwriting, I was like oh my gosh that's it! That's something I've always known but like I never let it come out in the front like I never expressed it that that's one of the first thoughts I have when I think about writing in a journal or having a daily planner. So that's very insightful, it helped me♡ Thank you for making this video.

I don't have ADHD (as far as I know) but can relate to your thinking. Digital planners don't work for me - the physical action of writing works for me. Colour coding is a complete no-no however - my brain just finds it distracting! I do however choose a colour pallette for the month and stick to it - a coloured pen (Sarasa vintage) with a matching/toning highlighter. That's as close to decoration as I get. No stickers, no washi. I have enjoyed softcover planners in the past but currently have a collection of ring-planners, so changing the covers out every few months is a way to freshen things up too. Don't get along with spiral-bound, and how anyone puts up with the clatter of disc-planners is beyond me!

I don’t understand the “softbound vs spiral” thing… ? The opposite of softbound is “hardbound.” Wouldn’t hardbound also prevent all those issues you mentioned that spiral bounds present?

Hey Madison ! I've been looking for an ADHD friendly planning process and your video has been really helpful because of how simple it is. I also love color coding but I didn't think of doing it by by deadline and importance of deadline. I'm a consultant working with different clients, while also building my own fashion business on the side, so I have the same issue as you with importance vs. class in that if I color code by project, I down-prioritise my own project. The idea of prioritising by importance would train me to see my own commitments as equally important as my external commitments. Thanks for the tips <3

This video has been soo soo helpful!! I was recently diagnosed with OCD (and honestly I am still learning about what that means for me/ my life) but I have actually purchased probably 12 planners in the span of a year and had to donate or gift or sadly throw them away because I kept finding the planners I had purchased would almost trigger my compulsions (I have to be careful with not having too many lists but also still need a basic to do etc). This was so helpful and helped me break down my big goal of finding a planner that works for me. because I feel more anxious and more naked now that I have no planner at all. <3 Thanks again for the video!!

@@madisonharris4528atleast they are not out of sight xD also... If you have a significant other, make one extra Google account and add it to both phones. Any notes, reminders, events made with that account will be synced. If my gf tells me we have something next weekend, and I'm not immediately adding it to my calendar.. well... This way she can make sure I won't forget

This video is so good! Makes me wanna try getting a monthly view planner lol. But I wanna share something that might be helpful when it comes to digital planning. No need to feel obligated to follow this lol, but I hope someone can find this helpful: I used to have a digital planner and calendar and I did NOT follow any of them. That out of sight rule, like you said, is the biggest reason why. Along with that, the feeling of being rigid with my tasks made me not follow any of it at all. I had full notion pages, 2 different apps for a calendar, 2 apps for to do lists, and a complex physical planner that had habits, monthly view, weekly view, quarterly summary, etc. So I decided to just stick to a calendar for a rough layout of the day, a to do list for random ideas I may find (NOT as a list I do for the week), and a physical planner that is fully blank. I didn't usually put a lot on my physical planner, but once I cleaned my desk and only put the planner, a water bottle, and a dopamenu in my desk, I put a lot more smaller tasks (rather than the whole goal) in the planner and I did a LOT more. In the to do list, I basically just use it as a quick note thing. I use TickTick, but Apple Reminders works wonderfully too. I just say "Hey siri, remind me about mario kart soundtrack [or random fact or idea or non-urgent task i come through]" then it will just show up in the reminders app. In the calendar, I cleared everything and only have the morning routine, lunch, me time (at night), and evening routine to give me a sense of divide between the day. I put the non-negotiables like classes and exams then keep it as is. When I'm taking a dump or about to start my day, I look at the calendar widget I have on my phone and fill it up with manageable tasks. I don't make it rigid, but rather see it more like a nudge on things I can do at the time. If it feels like it's a little much for now, I move it later down the days. No, I don't stick to this 100%, but probably around 50%, which is way better from the ~5% I had before, which btw had a harder initial set up and took much more time trying to maintain it. anyway, Yeah! Loved the video and the tips!

I love content like this. I think it's definitley needed! I've got both adhd and autism and need planning! My brother does too but in a very different way. I'm much more of a messy-organised type planner with sticky notes and brainstorming and my brother needs a clean, black and white, small layout. I think it's amazing that you're creating content like this since it can take a lot of time to develope exactly what method you need for your own little brain and its great to see you giving inspiration and what works for you. Thank you!

Like you, I use a paper planner. The pretty, fancy ones can be far too distracting and busy for me, so I do the minimalist planner -- usually one that's a nice soft color -- and add stickers or highlighting as needed. I also only use pencil to write in my appointments, so that I can erase if the schedule changes, and also because I sometimes write an appointment in the wrong place and have to change it. A few years ago, I decided to try using an *appointment book,* instead of a planner. In the weekly view, there's a column for each day (including Saturdays and Sundays, we do stuff on weekends, too, right?) divided vertically in 15-minute increments from 7am to 9pm. I love this, because it helps me keep the planner specific, and also keeps it neater. For specific appoinments, I also circle the time or draw a box around the time slot (in pencil) to emphasize it. Colored pencil would work, too, but this is easier for me. The line spacing in an appointment book is admittedly small, so may not work for everyone. But this has been great for me. Sharing in case it might help others.
