Do you have lightning protection set up for your boat ? Would love to know what you did as your an electronic engineer.
@svBluePearl3 жыл бұрын
problem with lightning is that its AC and DC and Magnetic a;; at the same time , so if you protect for AC (and DC) the magnetic pulse will create current through ground wires (antenna etc) We currently have a keel stepped mast providing a direct and short route for any strike from the mast to the keel and water , and the stainless standing rigging is grounded to the keel as well but that doesnt mean that nothing will happen as 'the shortest route to ground' may not be Mr Lightnings preferred way All we can do is disconnect everything (power , ground , N2K network and antenna cables) and hope for the best ? But when you connect everything , for example at the base of the mast, your wind instruments and mast head lights will probably be toast anyway Do I have an answer ? I wish !!

Wow, not impressed with the placement of the salt water pump. The impellers need to be replace often so you want to be able to get to it This one was actually a bushing problem which is a little rare .
@svBluePearl3 жыл бұрын
I was not impressed either !! it bolted to the engine and inaccessable for at least a few hours after shutting down the engine because you're burning your hands , arms and everything else while trying to get to it ! glad we got it fixed and better than new ! And I watched Delos who had the same issue a few times so I had the service kit on board in case we needed it . but the VP workshop in Spain fixed it properly , so we still have a spare kit ;)
@californiakayaker3 жыл бұрын
@@svBluePearl Its crazy they put it there because a leak of salt water goes right on top of the engine. Slaps forehead !

Like very much your decision to live onboard and sail! This anchoring was too close to the shore and to other boats, luckily no harm occurred to none. Keep going and posting!!!
@svBluePearl4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gigi , these are moorings in a mooring field , not anchored :) as it is forbidden to anchor . the moorings are laid there to protect the coral and Bonaire is a marine park so you're only allowed to use moorings and not anchor out
