What gentle parenting is... Useless, that's what it is. Being strict without screaming and violence is more effective and puts less responsibility on the child. Instead of them having to wrap their head around why there are behaviours okay or not they can acknowledge them and move on. "Sweety, I acknowledge your desire for movement and play but I would like you to know that it might be dangerous if you just run off on the road without looking for traffic. Could you please consider this next time?" gets your child run over. "NAME! You STAY right THERE and WAIT!" is effective, you raised your voice and you can than proceed to explain WHY and the consequences if not obbeyed and buy that I don't mean, "you could get hurt" but "you go inside and the trip to playground is off" or "you get of your bike and walk home".

Conscious parenting doesn’t dismiss the need for urgency or ignore danger. The absolute comparisons are untrue and unhelpful. Reasonable people know when to use urgency and also when to take time to validate a child before continuing.

Old fashioned discipline......It worked with the Spartans, Samurais,Vikings and Native Americans....in their inner circle of their family culture....It worked for me as well.

This behaviour keeps occuring as long as parents give the child what they want when they scream. Or when they give in when they scream

I actually thought "gentle parenting" was a joke to make fun of Gen Z... can't believe it's real! In fact, I know it's not real in yhe privacy of their homes, or when there's no camera on them.

this video is 10 year old and it was common to alternate the pronouns because "he" was typiclly the default. It wasn't common to use they as a singular. Also this is a Q submitted by a parent so it might have referred to that.

The look at me hit home. I avoid eye contact like it will burn me. I have learned to look at people's foreheads instead of their eyes because to seems like I'm looking them in the eye without the intense cringe factor

Pick your battles but Absolutely don't sit back while your kid is being a doormat and letting another kid bully them. Sorry, but not sorry. You allowing them to be a victim is telling them it's ok for others to treat them poorly. Teach them first how to speak up by being the example. Teach them assertiveness. Let them disagree and say no but step in when they are being mistreated. They will have plenty of opportunities when you're not around to practice.

Thank you. Before I was feeling guilty that my kids hitting in daycare and he just 2.5 now I understand what he might going through. Before make him calm down. First I need to calmly listen to him. You gave me a different perspective to think rather than blaming my kid. Thank you for bringing up the facts about hitting. I am little relief now

@ChrissyLynn thank you so much for watching! It's definitely more difficult without support. I would say it's okay to walk away and take care of yourself as long as your child is safe. We can say, "I feel overwhelmed, I'm going to take a minute and be right back." - instead of staying and trying to help while dysregulated. And when you can't avoid it or have no help (it's OKAY!) - repair, repair, repair :)

Thanks for the video, but I couldnt find anything for a case where a toddler starts hitting your eyes at the most positive and loving moments and follow it with a laughter. He has no aggression at all just having fun. How can you stop her from hitting your eyes? My eyes are truly hurting!

Thanks so much for watching. I don't remember what I said in this video but I would say set a physical boundary and create space. Move away. Hitting is a common stage and it can be redirected but it takes repetition. They can't always "stop" because we ask. At that age, the impulse control is not well developed and it takes time (and also repeatedly setting the limit. I" don't like that It hurts my eyes. I'm going to move back so I don't get hit." etc.
