The older maytag dependable care washing machines when they went unbalanced it had a trip sensor

Use actually had a plastic tub I believe, not porcelain. So GE, Maytag, and Frigidaire all used plastic tubs. But Speed Queen and Whirlpool did not.

Yes it has that's why I got rid of it and I got myself a Maytag Legacy Series washer which is basically a higher-end version of the Maytag performa

Yup. The one way bearing on the transmission is broken. That’s why it agitates whilst spinning.

It’s the one way bearing on the transmission. It isn’t going fast enough because the gears are still spinning and not all of the torque is going to the spin basket

This washing machine doesn’t contain Pre-Soak and Pre-Wash cycles and Finger Faucet switch. That background guy without face shown could have afforded some Maytag Legacy Series washing machine with those extra features if he wanted to. Probably didn’t want to make some big deal on that model with such features. Those control panel terms, that agitator design and motor are similar to Maytag Atlantis models.

Way too strong of agitator for a load on that water level. Regular or slow agitation would have been better.

@@judeplumbingandrepairs1924 my neighbor had an old roper washer like this whirlpool but it stopped working it’s not there anymore and now my neighbor has a Maytag bravos xl if you put deep water wash it only fills half the tub and if you want it to make 3 gallons you have to hold the deep water wash three seconds

If you would like this washer to spin correctly you will need to replace the transmission as the gearing inside of it is clearly faulty. The faulty transmission is also why it squeals when the tub brake activates, due to some other miscellaneous issue with the tub brake.
