Check me on this but I’m pretty sure you just have to take intermediate Spanish or get your professor to approve it. But it mostly comes down to how comfortable you are with immersion; how much Spanish you know is not a large portion of the application. The summer programs have fewer restrictions because the interest is lower and the time abroad is shorter. One of the girls on my trip didn’t know much Spanish, so ND got her a tutor while we were there. If you want to go abroad, they want to help you!!

As a walk-on, I came into contact with the coaches over email and then attended the tryout, met the benchmarks, and joined the team! Hi, that’s awesome! It depends a lot by program but showing strong interest and having good lines of communication with coaches matters the most. Other than that, good times matter and so do race results. If you only have one or the other, that’s okay, and if you have neither, you can still get far in the recruiting process! Coaches care a lot about interest, consistency, and improvement is honestly probably the biggest thing.

Hi Mark, thanks for the comment! To answer your questions, I did not interview (I’m pretty sure ND doesn’t do any), and ND can be as religious as you want it to be. The only required aspect is that every student must take two semesters of theology and two semesters or philosophy. Not all of these classes are from the Catholic perspective, of course, and you can choose to learn about any religion around the world! That being said, you could also find a mass everyday on campus if you wanted to, too.
