"I don't know what the lyrics mean"? Seriously? I guess that says everything about where we are today, and how much we've lost as a culture.

I don't know if anybody already answered this question, but the other "brother", Bill Medley, went off stage with the show's host, Andy Williams, as this was a solo act. Bobby Hatfield and Bill were not biological brothers, but were given the name Righteous Brothers by a member of the audience while doing a show in Southern California perhaps 2-3 years earlier. If you watch the entire clip of this video, you'll see Bill and Andy and Bobby's explanation of how they got their name. Also watch the Radio Reactive link for the song's background. Well worth your time.

They were NOT EVER BROTHERS. Sung by Bob Hatfield. He sung this at a gig and somebody in the audience said quote "That's Righteous Brother" hence the name. Just google it.

One of the great on stage performance's of all time. If your going to comment on something, do some research. The other "brother" is Bill Medley. Watch the two films there music made important contributions to the stories. "Top Gun" and "Ghost". Then you will know who the Righteous Brothers are.

Its 1965, you just got your draft notice. You play this song for your girlfriend and you know every word. She melts and waits as long as it takes for you to get back or she mourns you forever.

The song got its name from the movie "Unchained". It takes place in a prison. A black man sings it while lying on his bunk thinking about his wife whom he desires to wait for him to get out of prison.

The meaning behind the song you need to understand the society that produced it. Loyalty was a big thing back then between a man and a woman. With the Vietnam war going on, a lot of soldiers longed for their love who was back home… This is but one meaning of it.
