Wouldn't the volume inside the box change while placing the woofer inside ?? Like it would decrease right?

Haha, same here man. Back in the day, bought some Radio Shack woofers and horn tweeters, put together this speaker box I loosely copied from a JBL live stage box, used it for my electric drums and DJ events. Not only did they sound good, but a few people asked if I could turn them down! Buddy and I did a comparo on his Peavy speakers, mine sounded "richer" with deeper bass wereas the Peavy's were too trebely. Yeah, there's always going to be somebody that will say, don't do it this way, or do it this way only, hey, just build a good box and good speakers will sound amazing.

My rear parcel shelf of my bmw m3 is similarly mounted into a frame just like these. It came on most 3 series models from year 92-99. It uses a 6x9 and a 2.75” wideband/tweeter which is also sealed off in its own compartment to avoid deflection of the tweeter just like yours there. They are great cars for audio systems. They come oem with a 3 way component but it does depend on where you are located since not every country got the full premium 10channel hifi or hk system 😊

hey man. not sure if you still reply to comments. but i got a ground zero gziw 12xspl-d2. it's a dual 2 ohm version. should essentially be the same. i want to be able to play the sub at low volume's with it reproducing atleast some realistic bass.. but somewhat SPL shake when i crank it up. would it be possible with your medium or big SQ size ported enclosures?
@BoarAudio
@BoarAudio Жыл бұрын
That new version has more excursion and lower Fs, if you have the space you can get really low digging and still SPL capable setup in bigger 70 litre box. 160cm2 55cm port, that puts tuning around 30hz and can play to 27hz in full 1000w. Port can be example 40cm tall and 4cm width slot port, note that for slot port length could be slightly different for same tuning than round port, but you can start around that 55cm length.

@@BoarAudio ah not too bad! i'm not sure what volume i will have in the end. i went to a guy who did measurements and will make me a box tuned with WINISD and another program. not sure if it will quite reach the 70Litre mark but i feel like it would get close enough. what does 27 hz achieve though? my old 150 watt jbl HIFI sub used to be tuned to 27 hz and it was amazing. but i read online that the body thumping feeling lays more around the 30 to 45 hz. the box i am getting is going to be tuned between 35 and 40 hz. unless you'd recommend me to stick with the lower frequencies? i can easily get a big enough box in there but for this car i wanted to leave some space for groceries. and some space for showing the amps during shows :P thanks for the information though!
@BoarAudio
@BoarAudio Жыл бұрын
@@rayproductionsbackupchanne3862 Way you are doing it sounds good, because if you want to save some space raising the tuning little bit gives better results. For most music you don’t need anything under 35hz. That 70 l was only the air space port not included so the actual box size could easily be like 100 l. That sub is very versatile and will probably work great in the box you are getting.

I would like to build an in home speaker enclosure for 2 alpine s-s65 6.5" speakers. They will be accompanied by an 8" subwoofer so I don't need much base from the 6.5" speakers. If I want to use them for mids and highs should I put them in an enclosure or just leave the back of the box open? If enclosed should I go sealed or vented? I wrote alpine to get the qts and vase numbers and still waiting for thise.

@BoarAudio
@BoarAudio Жыл бұрын
Maybe, but cone material doesn’t make huge difference. More important is to have same physical size for mounting etc. and electrical parameters if you can find or measure them on your KRK woofer, mainly impedance, Qts, Qes, Fs and Vas.

I have 10" woofer ( 120w ) , 6" middle (zipp) and a tweeter. I know the T/S parameters of woofer and middle speaker. What is the perfect measurement of 3 way cabinet and how can i calculate the appropriate volume of the cabinet ? Is there any equation or some thing ? Please help me .
@BoarAudio
@BoarAudio Жыл бұрын
Follow this tutorial: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bK9hlKyar92-Z40.html or download and use WinISD Put T/S parameters of your 10" sub in there and calculate different sealed and ported enclosure options. Calculate also how the midwoofer works in that same enclosure, if the result is bad, and you don’t want to have deep roll off HPF on your midwoofer then make sealed enclosure only for the mid inside the cabinet and make overall cabinet bigger.

I have a Home Audio component Sony, (sony genezi) I want replace the OEM Sony speakers damaged with a new JBL or Cerwing Vega, amplifier is 4 Ohms, so is not hard to find speakers same impedance, then I imagine no problem with that, the RMS in the apmplifier are aprox 275W, - just I don't know if replace the tweeter or not, using so: JBL 6" with crossover + tweeter, or just the cone 8" . That is something I have not seen in a Video or even explained before as clearly as you did at 4:13 , where you mentioned the power limit with combination of the XMax of the driver. I never gave it a thought that you could do that with Software. I should have known better, but I have not had the need to build my own sub woofer box in a long time. Can I recommend something? It would be nice to put a PayPal Link so we can tip you for your videos. I get so much from watching other people's stuff and enjoy content like this. And use to buy DVD's about this stuff. It would be nice to tip the folks that make stuff I would like to see. Also, Thank you for making it easy to understand for the rest of us. I have to admit, I may never make another box again, but its fun to just play around with drivers. Again, Thanks Boar!

I have 4 of these subs that are just collecting dust, i was gonna use them in a big ported box, but i never got to it. How do they play with added cabin gain in a car? I want to build something around 170 liters sealed with these subwoofers, and if it doesnt work im gonna sell them and buy another subwoofer. oh and i have a 2000 watt amplifier that i will run them on
@BoarAudio
@BoarAudio 2 жыл бұрын
Cabin gain helps, but response will be very peaky at higher bass notes and with no low bass output, because air volume would be very small per sub. I would in that situation make system isobaric. 170l sealed or ported with two of these subs in clamshell isobaric configuration and two clamshells in a box.
