I just purchased the 50, when hauling meat out, do you have to reclip the batwings or just connect the buckles?
@soholtbrothers15 күн бұрын
While you are hauling meat you dont need to re-attach the batwings. After you put the pack all back together after load hauling you'll put those back on.

@soholtbrothers4 ай бұрын
But in all seriousness, that’s true. Shooting traditional is a different story and you need the heavier arrow. Most of the research about heavy arrows was all done with traditional equipment so it makes sense. But for the general populace, it is not necessary.

Im 6'4" 160 pounds. So saying im slim is an understatement. I want a pack to be able to do multiple nights tarp camping summer or winter. I was going to get the 50L but i think it may be too small for winter sleep gear. But The 100L looks a bit big for me to handle if it's loaded down. Do you think the 75 is big enough for winter sleep gear and some extra clothes on top of all the other essentials?
@soholtbrothers4 ай бұрын
I think that 75 would be perfect. And if you did need it, you could haul some things on the overload system. But the 75 is definitely the right size for most applications

Would the 50 be good for whitetail? In a tree stand or saddle? I like to pack my clothes in and cool off before putting them on so I don’t sweat and freeze.
@soholtbrothers4 ай бұрын
So the short answer is yes. You could certainly use this for whitetail the only downfall is that it is not quiet fabric like is used in the whitetail line. I have used the metcalf or other frame packs from MR when hunting a long way in for whitetails. I like having a frame/overload system with me in case I shoot something a couple miles from the truck I can haul a couple quarters out at a time and save at least one trip in to get the deer.
@seabass224 ай бұрын
@@soholtbrothers I have a pop up 30, it’s just too small for me and I don’t like not having a side zipper. Just kinda falls short in a couple areas. It’s between the metcalf and the pop up 40 for me. Probably going to sell the pop up 30. And I found a better deal on the metcalf than on the pop up 40. I will also be using it to pack in sticks and stands and saddle gear etc. Don’t know the real world difference between the ultralight frame and the pop up frame other than the pop up feature.

For me criteria #1 when choosing a backpack is suspension system. I have not heard anything in this overview on how comfortable you feel under heavy load in a harsh terrain. It does matter hugely.
@soholtbrothers6 ай бұрын
Even though I didn't specifically mention it in the video, the load hauling and suspension are incredibly comfortable. This particular pack ended up being my rucking trainer for a lot of the off season and it has hauled out several animals as well. The Guidelight MT frame with the overload system is pretty amazing.

Casing should be flushed out with water. Add 1/4 tsp baking soda to soaking water. This helps untwist the casings and slide on horn easier. Should be able to put 50-75 feet of casing on horn in 30 seconds. Your doing it the hard way.

@soholtbrothers7 ай бұрын
It's like a duct system kind of build into the liner. We just removed all of that. We still get heat and AC out of the rear unit and just keep the setting turned so it comes from the floor since the ceiling duct work is blocked.

This video popped up in my feed after watching the Gritty Kodiak hunt series.. watching this really drives home the next level that Brian & crew put into video production and the attention they put towards the viewers enjoyment and education of the strategy behind the stalks… unfortunately this film fell far short and seems as the viewer was never really meant to be part of the experience …

What an absolute dream hunt and experience. Who wouldn’t want to hunt Alaska for bucks 🦌🦌🦌 and ducks 🦆 🦆🦆🦆? I know that I would. I was blessed beyond measure to win a hunt for waterfowl (mostly Pacific Brant and Canadas, with a few teal and mallards 🦆 mixed in). We also went after ptarmigan and did silver salmon fishing 🎣 and off shore fishing for cod and halibut. Hopefully 🙏 I can make it up there someday soon once again. Perhaps for big game next time. Anyway congrats to you both on this epic adventure. I can tell that this was from 2022 since Alaska changed their tags 🏷️ for Sitka Blacktail from 3 to 1 for 2023.
