I noticed you didn't use a hammer, to compact the clay. I though that was required, to get the clay nice and smooth. Anyways, I just recently started sandcasting. When I pound the delft clay into the mold with a hammer, the clay "splits" and it's not where I'm hammering. I'm putting some decent pressure when hammering, but I'm not "bashing" it. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? It did that too, the first time opened up the bag of clay. Thanks.

Love the finished product! I have a suggestion though.. you should reface your anvil and give it a mirror polish, or as close as you can get. This will help the finished product have a much better shine after flattening 🤙🏻I’m a blacksmith so it’s a bit hard to see an anvil that coarse and rusty

You bave to add solder to the jiont, the ring may bend easily and will cuuase premature fialure. Also thay jiont doesnt look good, try soldering it and placing a think copper sheet over the soldered gap, it will remian copper colored and be much stronger

Wow!! I am a collector of jewellery by far. But completely new to jewellery making! Why do you heat the copper the. Submerge to cool then hammer then repeat ? I would assume heating it would harden it. But then hitting with hammer will soften it again. I'm confused. I'm about to do my first wire wrapp this weekend with a huge amber piece with 1.5mm pure copper wire. So trying to learn as much as I can ready
