The Feds Had That Older Lady And Raven In On It Remember. Joshua Hartnett(Butcher) Had A Tat On His Arm They Knew About. Plus If They Looked At His Phone He Had Dude On Camera All Tied Up. Good Funny Review 💯

If the ending ruined it for you then you were not paying attention at all throughout the movie. Did you even take a second to think about the hints scattered throughout the dialogue??

I ultimately left feeling unscared and disappointed about that tbh since all the marketing did SUCH an amazing job of hiding everything in mystery and being genuinely scary with the sound design and scene's used. That being said, as a NON "horror movie" and more of a "Thriller Detective(/Supernatural twist)" movie, I enjoy it more when I don't think of it as a horror movie. It's shot beautifully in a cinematography scence. The actors did an amazing job (The only scene Nick disappointed me in was where he covers his eyes and does the "cukoo" to the girl behind the counter. The trailers made it seem like she was about to die horribly lol) I also was unfortunate enough to leave and use the restroom RIGHT as Lee and the FBI agent go to check on her mom and the mom shotguns the FBI agent and only got back when Lee woke up. Which was apparently the highlight of the movie so I'll have to re-watch it. Overall still a GOOD movie, but I don't reallllyyyyy consider it "Horror"? More suspenseful and atmospheric if anything.

Most horror is destroyed by end of movie. Its like the saying by many prominent figures thru out history from Roosevelt to Churchill that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. We humans can lighten up darkness.....as long as we know what we are up against. Some viewers will complain when fed what is going on by movies end. We also have opposite end where some viewers will complain when the ending gives no insight at all to what is going on.

They way that they delved into the occult was SO cheesy and kinda ruined it for me. If they had chosen to do a little bit more research to make it less corny, it would have made it feel a lot more real. Hereditary did that SO well in my option. It just felt like they were a lot more focused on the character of Longlegs that everything else just fell short. Don’t get me wrong, the acting and cinematography was great. But it was so disappointing otherwise, especially from a horror perspective. It feels a lot like these new “horror” movies coming out are really just suspenseful thrillers with a few horror bits thrown in here and there, and it gets old.

I just don't agree. I loved this movie. When I first watched it I also disliked that it felt like it hand fed you the narrative but it really didn't . The whole point of the final act is that even though the big bad is gone there is still a lingering threat that no one can escape form. It's about the influence that Longleg's had and Lee's mom made a deal with the Devil that she needed to continue to act out even without Longlegs present. Lee wasn't even able to finish off the last doll because you can't get rid of evil, it will always be present even when you know where it comes from. Everyone is after Longlegs because he is assumed to be the killer, It's very Charles Manson with his followers. I feel like there is so much messaging in this movie that you can't just handwave the movie because of the ending. It's all been thought out and with purpose. Genius in my opinion.

forget day one, in minute one i knew the plot. i agree when you say we need more of what they are and how they got here. like in the thing, at least you see a ship heading towards earth at the beginning. it seems these things are coming down on or in some sort of rocks. what are they? are they being sent from another alien race etc? because i cant see they could work out 'lets go to earth because its rife with food' as they seem like creatures that just need to feed.

Would a World War Z style (the book, not the movie) explanation of the government role in the invasion be fitting? It would surely be different than the other two films.

Nah people just expect every movie to be action-packed because attention-spans are so short and y'all have the imagination of a goldfish so any movie that doesn't result in a gang-war or a car chase or a sex scene is immediately considered pointless. The movie is more about vibes and cultural shifts than plot. Once you realize it's a portrait of a subculture, not a thriller, maybe the anger might dissipate. You also can't blame a movie for its marketing. The studios cut the trailers, not the filmmakers themselves.

Sounds like they changed it up quite a bit from the book. The book isn't perfect by any means but it seems like the explanations and story progression are a little cleaner in the book.

The one comment I hate people say 'Movies based on true stories should be more accurate'. Like since when was that a law in film? Why should they have to be accurate? When they say 'based' it means playing loose with the facts for a story! Not telling the actual tale. If you want the real story, watch a documentary or read the factual books. If you're learning from the films, you need to rethink about your learning routine!

movie was such a bore. very off brand to the mad max saga. The villain monologue felt like 12 minutes of redundancy. Fury road was 100x better.

The general consensus is it's good but not as good as Fury Road, and that's absolutely right. Still a lot of fun, and I'll see it again and buy the Blu Ray because our boy George needs it to do well to make another one. Thanks for your review!
