I don't understand these videos of people using a fiber laser on copper. I have a 30watt fiber laser and it does nothing to pure copper regardless of settings. Same settings will burn deep into stainless or aluminum but literally does nothing to copper.

Thank you for the comment! It all comes down to energy density and the mark happening in the center of the field. MECCO does our marks with a 160mm lens. If you use a larger lens, it will not work. We can mark copper with our 5W laser also; in fact, it actually marks darker and faster.

you need to defocus slightly for copper. try adding ~1.25mm Z height from focus.

How do you save your settings once you get it where you want them? I got everything set up then switched to another file then went back and everything was changed to the previous settings.

Thanks for your question, Jack! You'll just need to save the job file. On the controller, select F3 (icon looks like a folder with a magnifying glass). Select F4 (icon looks like a document with a floppy disk). Name the file and press okay. If it’s on a T2 controller, you would push the scroll knob. You can also reference the Smartbox controller demonstration video.
