You're probably tired of reacting to Jacob videos but he's done it again with the Mohogany Sessions - Little Blue. It's even more beautiful than this but this time it's not his own voice that's the centrepiece, it's the choir. A choir of people in from the street - he put out a request on Instagram for people who can get to London that day - and he plays them all like an instrument. Mike Palmisano reacted to it, tried to teach it as it went along, and eventually put his guitar down with his mouth open. It's that good. Yes, I'm back to watching you watch Fix You again. 😂

Hi John, I’m writing here as it’s a recent video. I saw your Karen video from years ago and it rolled around and reminded me again. I have a voice I think you may want to analyze. Her name is Tori Holub. She has a unique but familiar sound. She’s gaining recognition and I thought you might like to see why. She recently performed at the Carpenters 55th Anniversary. She also met with Richard. The song I’m linking is her collaboration with Jim Wilkas of We’ve Only Just Begun. I bet you can guess what you’re in for if you accept the challenge. She has a huge library of self created short videos of various artists. Also some full length songs including a few originals. Have fun with this one, I know you will. Hi! My 12-yr old chorister grandson 🇦🇺 just advised me of your channel, following which I have watched several with both pleasure and some awe. Jacob Collier is known well by me since he was young and sang in Magic Flute with one of my boys. I see Jacob as Bobby McFerrin on steroids. 😂. One genre of voice I missed on your channel is treble singing. As a former(very) chorister at the Abbey, and with two sons and five grandsons who followed my example, I feel American audiences ignore this unique voice. Perhaps you might educate them. Cormac Thompson (Empty Chairs) or James Rainbird (Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, song " Suo Gân") might be good starting points.

My dad “forced” me to listen to Roy when I was a teen, and it didn’t go well (generational thing). Time heals all. He is a rare universally beloved, can’t put in a box, musical unicorn.

Metalhead drummer here, I LOVE Karen Carpenter’s pure voice, dynamic range, interpretive choices, everything. I had to hide this back in the ‘80’s (youth cool factor cred), but can unabashedly come clean now. Thank you for this great video and thoughtful commentary.

At the risk of making you cry for a 7th time ... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7emrbthv5msdWg.html&pp=ygUZbGl0dGxlIGJsdWUgamFjb2IgY29sbGllcg%3D%3D Jacob invited some fans to do a recording of Little Blue. He's wearing a lapel mic in his hat, but this recorded live. Aside from all of the vocal coolness in this song, he's playing a custom-made Taylor 5 string, with his own tuning because ... why not? It's Jacob! I would love to see you do this one next. I tear up at the shear emotion in this song every time.

Nobody doubts the skills of the singers. Nobody doubts the skills to create this complex arrangement of this classic song. The problem, and that with a lot of modern music (especially coming from composers from classical training backgrounds), is that the complexity of the music is valued at the forefront more than the sound experience. There is too much happening here and it simply sounds awful because of it. It is like a meal with too many ingredients. I could listen to the original on repeat for hours or days even. This arrangement makes my ears bleed before I finish it one time. 🤦♂️

Can we talk about the amount of sheer vocal stamina this requires oh my god😭 this song requires the vocal chords of steel…I don’t think I’ve heard many vocally stressful songs as this one, the amount of sustained belted D5s and F5s in here is insanity, and you can even tell at the end she was getting really tired but she powered through it with pure creativity and awesome changes and that to me makes an amazing artist, it’s the creativity, she’s something to appreciate for sure!🥰

He never dared to get his teeth adjusted because he was worried about it affecting his singing. Now that I hear all the things that depend on the way he pulls up his upper lip, shapes his mouth, etcetera, I'm thinking he might heve been right about that.

RONNIE JAMES DIO had no formal vocal training. He was gifted by a higher power!! Perhaps his trumpet playing as a youth, could have helped. He sang in ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN HELL, for me, he was the greatest heavy metal front man of all time!!! RIP RJD!!!!!

Another incredible singer I would love to see a reaction to is Lucy Thomas. I am confident that you will really enjoy her and be very impressed. Lucy is a young an up-and-coming rising star out of The UK who is really starting to get traction and notice. She has a number of great covers but try either of these below for a great experience. Depending upon which song you choose you will see that she is either 16-19 years old when singing these. I am a huge fan of hers but would be very interested in your thoughts on her songs. Once you start down this rabbit hole, you will not be content with just one. She is THAT GOOD.
