I totally fill insulin cartridge and use until empty. Just change infusion site every three days. My A1c went up on control IQ. Now I turn off during day and only use at night. So far my TIR has been fabulous. 110 is too high for me. I like to run around 90.

I just wanna express how much I hate… Hate… Hate piece of crap inserter. I can’t even imagine you poor parents trying to do this to your children cause I sure as hell can’t figure it out. Already been through today and my blood sugar has been over 400 all day, every single one of them is bent when I pull it off after two hours at this point I’m gonna end up in the hospital. It’s ridiculous. The AI is great but not user friendly. Anybody here use the Omni pod?

Thanks for asking, Carlos. While each infusion set package comes with an insertion site cover, the membranes at the insertion site are designed to be self-sealing, and it is not required to insert the cover.

DO I need to refill the cannula after reconnecting after swimming for example or just the tubing
@tandemdiabetes
@tandemdiabetes 18 күн бұрын
Great question! There's no need to refill the cannula once it's filled. Just be sure to only disconnect at the infusion site, not at the tubing lock connection. Disconnecting at the tubing lock connection could result in air in your tubing which could compromise insulin delivery.

I have been using this infusion set for a few years and have never filled the tubing before inserting the canula into my body. I insert the canula detach the tubing from my body and then attach it to the cartridge after which I fill the tubing. If you use the method shown in the video and something goes wrong with the insertion then you've not only wasted an infusion set but also the insulin it took to fill the tubing.

Just switched to the Tandem t:slim X2, my first time on an insulin pump after being T1D for about 13 years. I love the Control IQ technology and the size of the pump. However, I can’t help but think how many units of insulin are wasted in the process of switching tubing and such. Seems very wasteful in fact, that part of the pump needs to be redesigned.

@tandemdiabetes Oh, I do not have an insulin pump. My doctor thinks that I should get it now. I'm just doing research.To me, set up is a little complicated considering I would never have known all that profile information. Anyway. All the numbers I wanna know are my blood sugar number and how much insulin gives. I don't care about the carbs. I don't care about the other number because I won't be able to track those numbers anyway. And besides, those numbers change very frequently. That's why I hope this will be more automated. With a little bit of assistance from AI.

We're very sorry for learn about your experience with the alerts and alarms. We know ill-timed alerts can be very inconvenient. Pump sound volume is set to high, but can be personalized for Alarms, Alerts, Reminders, Keypad, Bolus, Quick Bolus, and Fill Tubing. Options for volume include high, Medium, Low, and Vibrate. This can be changed in Pump Volume in Pump Settings. As a precaution, do not use the vibration feature for alerts and alarms during sleep unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider. Having the volume for alerts and alarms set to high will help ensure that you don't miss an alarm or alert. If you are interested in learning more about your options with common alarms and alerts, please check out our blog post here: www.tandemdiabetes.com/resources/blog/post/ae3256eb-aa1e-4077-a19e-d5e01a968a23. These are a few of my biggest concerns when it comes to switching to tandem, some of which are just expected quality of life things that I don't understand why design would drift away from or stay with: 1. lack of view on reservoir 2. complicated load process that does not allow for corner cutting or time saving (time may be money but time is also my life, the less time i have to be diabetic the better)...for instance, with minimed's reservoir system I can either use the priming feature the pump has built in to push insulin through the tubing once the reservoir is connected to the pump OR i can save time by after drawing insulin from a vial into the reservoir with the plunger I can leave said plunger in and connect the tubing and manually push insulin through the tubing. That saves me about 2mins of time that i dont have to think about diabetes. Consider this type of design in your pumps. 3. luer lock is old, why even go with this design when there are better designs out there? 4. replaceable batteries. Again, time is my life. I don't want to be connected to charge something. Either incorporate the old school method of disposable batteries OR add a swappable rechargeable battery to your systems. I don't want to slowly watch my pump battery life go down and be told "we're gonna wait until its under 3 days per charge". That's crazy. I would love to give further feedback on quality of life stuff if you'd have it from during the design of your next system. I run r/type1diabetes on reddit and write/direct film for a living so time saved is very important to me so I can continue to do my job and help others to the best of my abilities.

Really wish I had gone with omnipod. Issue after issue with pump and support won’t do anything except to blame the Dexcom’s transmitter. Although the transmitter stays connected 100 percent to the time with all my other devices it won’t stay connected to the pump. But of course it’s not tandems fault. Is everyone else.

Thanks for reaching out, Jane. Tandem pumps and cartridges are only indicated for use with Novolog and Humalog U-100 insulins. The safety and efficacy of other insulins have not been established for use with Tandem pumps. If you use another insulin that has not been approved for use in your pump and you begin experiencing persistent issues that can be attributed to insulin compatibility, we can’t guarantee the effective operation of your pump. We have recently gotten the t slim pump for my nephew, and it has been nothing but a headache for us. Everything works amazing aside from the infusion set. It is so flimsy and we have so many failed infusion sites. We already pay a hefty amount for his monthly kits for the t slim and we have had so many failed infusion sets, that we run short during the month, so yet again we are having to pay yet another hefty amount to replace these failed infusion sets. We have taken in person training courses, watched numerous videos to make sure we were doing everything right. We do it exactly how we were trained too, but these infusion sets keep failing. My nephew had to go to the ER twice because his glucose was over 500 and we had no other way to give him insulin. I think it is absurd for us to keep paying these hefty amounts for something that isn’t our fault.

Hi! When I enter bolus, it shows that bolus is active for example for 3 hours. Does this mean that pump will give the insulin in small bits during the 3 hours or that it will give all the insulin at the start?
@tandemdiabetes
@tandemdiabetes 4 ай бұрын
Great question, Thomas! If delivering a standard bolus, the amount requested will be delivered as soon as the user confirms the request. The insulin duration reflects the amount of time an insulin bolus is actively lowering your glucose.
