Amazing the windows didn't shatter. Log cabins are also very resistant to soil subsidence/expansion. In Sweden, they often rest on big stones at each corner - leading to less uneven drainage at the foundation, less uneven soil expansion, and less rot. (Drafty around the feet, though!) The logs are fitted on each other to be air-tight - but only directly fastened at the corners. Room for expansion/contraction (and isolate well from the cold). Finally, a lot depends on the quality of the wood/logs. The longest-lastng ones here are from old fir trees that grew slowly (north slopes). Modern timber is crappy quality in comparison.

This is Honkarakenne video, it's big Finnish company but sells globally. It also does custom design. They are pretty expensive though, and most probably what you see here is not a log house in traditional sense, it's made of "logs" that are glued together from multiple parts, aligning the wood grains to resist twisting you would see in ordinary log.

@@Honkarakenne-houses Yes do that, my wife and people for example from Aland islands are not Finnish speaking and It would help a lot ( So I have to translate to my wife but thats not a problem for me - We gonna have a Lauha Frame house and som modifications in it .... The work has started )
