I have a small doubt regarding the WSL, which is better a dual boot or using WSL as, I want to do my chip designing project in linux as some of the software supports only in linux OS, so which one would be better for me. please suggest me.
@TechWithCosta3 күн бұрын
If you really need Windows and the Linux software you need works properly on a WSL2 setup (with UI interaction), I would prefer that instead of Dual Booting. The latter is not so convenient. Check this to test learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/tutorials/gui-apps You can launch UI Linux apps with WSL2 now. If WSL2 does not solve it, just run a Linux virtual machine with VirtualBox (if you have enough hardware to work with). If you don't need Windows at all, go full Linux. 1. Windows + WSL2 (test 1st) 2. VirtualBox VM (enough hardware) 3. Dual Boot 4. Full Linux It depends on your needs and tests :)

as a (very) long term bash user, I kinda resist working in zsh, but the cool tab feature you show convinced me to try :) Great straight-to-the point video!

I also enjoy bash, honestly. But since ohmyzsh is so easy to install and shows already git info in the prompt, I just gave it a try. Check out ohmyposh, powerlevel10k, starship. Zsh has loads of different options (and you can easily switch between both ofc). Thanks for your feedback 🙏🏻

zsh looks kind of good, I wonder if it has text selection, type shift and use arrow keys to highlight to cut/copy then paste. Ohya, instead of nano text editor suggest using micro text editor has more familiar keybinds.

Zsh is for sure very versatile to customize. Lots of flavours supported by the community OhMyZsh, OhMyPosh, Powerlevel10k, Starship. I don't think it supports all that by default. You can use vi mode though, for visual selection. Check out 5:10 in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7J1opeAtpPHpYU.html Thanks for the micro editor tip, didn't know about it!

@@TechWithCosta Your welcome, I just thought to share what I figured out. I am sort of use to BASH but might look into zsh, I know it is popular on the macs.

Someone also recommended Warp terminal, which is very popular nowadays. With AI features etc. :)

Well done, very clear, thank you. Would be nice as well to see how to install a desktop environment on wsl.

Nice suggestion. What exactly are you trying to achieve?
@hamzahamza-ef1dgАй бұрын
is it works for legecy mode ? or just uefi
@TechWithCosta28 күн бұрын
I think WSL does not depend on Legacy or UEFI modes. However, your BIOS should have hardware virtualization enabled (Intel VT-x or AMD-V for example).
