I had it for a little over two years before I moved, took down the tank, and sold the sea apple. I didn't keep track of it with the new owner so I don't know how it did after that. My new tank was only 75 gallons which I felt was too small for it.

If they are happy they do tend to stay put. If they aren't happy, and they move around, then there is a fear they will get chopped up. That's when things go really wrong as they are toxic when that happens. The one in this video pretty much stayed put. It had a little path from morning to evening and that's it.

There are only a few choices. 1. remove the fish 2. add more rock or objects to divide the tank so one can hide. 2. leave them and watch to see if they sort it out without harming each other. Really, #1 is the only sure choice.

@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 2 жыл бұрын
Not in the same way. The Holothurin affects the nervous system of the fish. Corals do not have a similar system. The toxin doesn't poison the coral, however, it does make the water "unclean". I would run a little carbon and do a water change.

They do not release spores when you try and kill them. While they can reproduce sexually this requires conditions normally not found in an aquarium (like lunar cycles) so they reproduce by "splitting".

I just got two chromis 2 days ago, they both were very active and swimming around and eating a lot. This morning i woke up and one of them was hiding in the corner behind the filter, he was able to swim out but it seemed like he had a hard time to swim and was try to "sit" on the hydra filter. It started swimming a little bit more like it used but after 15 mins he sat at the bottom of the tank and was almost breathing very fast, after 30 mins like that now it swimming fine again. I tested the water this morning and no ammonio or nitrate detected, salinity and temperature are inside the parameters. Any idea of what is happening?

@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 2 жыл бұрын
They produce eggs but they are not fertilized. This is true of many creatures. It is kind of the same way a chicken lays eggs even without a rooster. They just aren't going to produce a chick. The crabs will produce and scatter thousands of tiny eggs but you won't see any larval crabs come from those eggs.

@@Azfishkeeping but he said it could’ve killed my clownfish that had died
@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 2 жыл бұрын
@@FortniteBoss You have to make the choice that feels right for you. It is your tank. I have never had a tank without bristle worms and I have always kept small fish that live in holes. Those fish live for many years and I have never had one die from a bristle worm. They are detritus eaters for the most part and some of them will scavenge. What generally happens, in my opinion, is that a fish dies, the worms eat the dead body, and the fishkeeper assumes it was the worm that killed the fish. If you trust the local fish store owner, then go with his advice. My experience is what it is but it isn't the only experience out there. But what we know about these worms, what marine biologists know, makes me comfortable with them in my tank. Again, with the rare exception of bobbit worms. But, that isn't what you see in my video.

@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 3 жыл бұрын
If you are breeding you want the breeding pair all by themselves. If you just want to see eggs laid but not hatch them you can keep a pair with other NON clownfish. Don't mix clowns, they fight.
@ATCorals
@ATCorals 3 жыл бұрын
I have a question. I have aquariums for breeding clownfish. Could I add 70 liters of 2 lysmata wundermani shrimp with a pair of clownfish to the aquarium? Will the shrimp interfere with the spawning of clownfish?
@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 3 жыл бұрын
It is possible, but unlikely that the shrimp will try to steal the eggs. But it is a certainty that they will eat the larvae once they hatch. If you plan on raising the larvae to adulthood then you really do have to have a specialized system with just the fish.
@ATCorals
@ATCorals 3 жыл бұрын
@@Azfishkeeping I catch clownfish larvae immediately after hatching from the eggs. Do you think 2 prawns will eat about 200 young while you are trapping them? The aquarium is not small, about 75 liters for one pair of clownfish.
@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 3 жыл бұрын
 @Artur Tokajuk I consider that to be a small tank. But, if you are wanting to really breed the clownfish there shouldn't be anything in the tank but them. The adults and a pot in one tank. Then when the eggs are laid, just before they hatch, you move the pot to an empty tank for them to hatch in. Then you provide them with the specialized food they require etc. I don't think the shrimp will eat ALL of the larvae. There will be plenty of them, but if breeding is your goal then the shrimp are counterproductive is all.
@ATCorals
@ATCorals 3 жыл бұрын
@@Azfishkeeping I had my first clownfish eggs and was able to breed 50. My idea is to breed wundermani shrimp and clownfish in the same aquarium. I don't know if anyone has tried that before. I think if a shrimp eats one clownfish larva, it will be very lucky. I don't know and I keep thinking about this idea my friend
@Azfishkeeping
@Azfishkeeping 3 жыл бұрын
@@ATCorals I have never heard of anyone trying in the same tank. It's a novel idea. It could work. You just accept that there will be some larva of both the shrimp and the clownfish that don't make it. For me this is acceptable. My clownfish lays eggs pretty much constantly but none of the larvae survive. They just get eaten. That provides a lot of nutrition to the tank inhabitants. You can just accept that some of them are food and some grow up. This is similar to how people treat guppies and platys in a freshwater tank.
