Hell ya...my grandad got his wings on these after training on a friggin biplane! (Swordfish I think). He got a funny little smile when I asked him about the Corsair. He said she was a beautiful bird

I enjoyed my first ever flight in a plane at that airshow this year. even though im scared of highs i loved the open cockpit and enjoyed the whole think, im happy Steve took me up for a flight in his PT-26 and only influenced me to be a private pilot even more, and to hopefully own one of these old war birds some day

Curious, how easy it is to leave a Gatling Gatling gun machine gun laying around in a parts booth in a mechanics bay, but in the civilian world, we can’t even have a fully automatic weapon.? Seriously you can just leave machine guns laying around if it is an army base? And those machine guns are what I fully understand as Gatling guns which have the ability to shoot several thousand rounds per minute and they’re not locked up in an armory somewhere? Geez, no wonder weapons disappear from the military all the time.! Thanks for the video and I do appreciate you keeping the old helicopters in the air -looks like you need some kind of oversight with these machine guns. Just sitting out in the middle of a garage restoration facility…. Maybe I’m wrong. I couldn’t have that where I live.! And yes, I have served our country too!

My father flew one in WW2/ Pacific Theatre. Late in the war, he flew with a few former Black Sheep Squadron members. When he talked about this aircraft his eyes would light up. He absolutely loved it. Thank you for giving me a glimpse of what it was like for him flying this amazing aircraft.

It was nice to see the wheel landings, proof that one doesn't *need* to 3-point a Corsair. The no-flap 3-pointer was cool too, tho I could see the dollars flying away in that tire smoke. Also, really cool to see how the airplane was well controlled in slow flight and stalls, and how the pilot did an excellent job on the rudder during takeoff. My father's friend's wife's cousin was T. Boone Guyton, one of the early test pilots for the Corsair. I read his book, and the stories about the early models were scary. It's that iterative process of design which so few people really appreciate, which made this airplane as controllable as it is.

They had some of these come to Korea when i was stationed there in 1992/93, I worked w/a guy that came from them when they were black projects at TTR and he knew some guys that came over w/them so he arranged us crew chiefs a sneak peek (this would be in the "tree" area at Kunsan) Anyway, my memory is faded but I do remember going up the ladder and seeing a very old analog cockpit that wasn't unlike the Block 15 A/B model F-16's I started on. Cool aircraft however and I'm so glad I was in the USAF, our technology is incredible and fearsome for the people on the receiving end of it.
